I have a very strange issue with the retail game. The issue being that when I enable soft shadows option or disable it the shadows look completely the same. With the SP demo however there was a distinctive difference with the shadows but apparently it’s not the case in the full game for me. I was wondering if that’s a common issue and if anyone else experienced it.

The Forceware 81.85s are supposed to address this issue, if I read the release notes correctly (I'm assuming you have an nVidia card).

Has anyone tried the 1.01 game patch to see if it has fixed the hard lock problem? Or did the 81.85 driver fix that?

Hey thanks everyone who liked the movies. I captured them with fraps, then edited, resized and recompressed with virtualdub and the xvid codec. Google for either and you get the hompages for them.

About that softshadows problem. I've found any other setting for AA except Off disables softshadows. So it seems you can have either AA or softshadows in the retail. Try it out. Same was true for the MP demo. The SP demo lets me enable AA and softshadows at the same time tho. Perhaps the fear patch out today will address this.

I wonder why the performance hit for something as seemingly crude as blurring? Couldn't they just convert it to a texturemap and blurr the hell ou of that realtime? Baffles my little head

How do you input a custom resolution for widescreen? I tried the instructions on page 1 but I don't have that file. Any info?

The funny thing is that I have the exact same video card as you yet even with 81.85s I’m getting only "hard shadows" with the game (regardless of the option being on or off). It wasn’t the case with the demo but it seems to be the case with the retail. Oh well...
