Default Re: Laser gaming mice suck (firsthand report).

I own the G7. I Bought it about a week ago and trust me, It's worth every penny. I don't play CS:S or HL2, but I do play UT2004, MOHAA, FEAR and other fps games So I am always looking for an advantage in my games. To say this mouse is great would be an understatement. I bought a mx700 a while back because I was fed up with corded mice, but only used it an hour before I returned it and bought the MX510 instead. The MX510 has been great to me and I still love it. The G7 actually feels very similar to it. The only difference I tell is the scroll wheel is a little stiffer to press down on. The mx700 is absolutely HORRIBLE when compared to the G7 and here's why.

The G7 is more precise, lighter, doesn't lag at all and has 2 batteries. It's everything the MX700 wishes it was. The only downside to the G7 some might say is there's one less side button. I never used it before so it doesn't matter to me, but that other than that it's the best mouse on the market. Imo of course. Add in a Func F-series F10.s mouse pad and you'll be in heaven.. I know I am.

I've owned several Logitech corded and cordless mice but once I picked up a Razor Diamondback I was hooked!!! So light, so fast, so precise!! In my opinion Razor makes the best mice on the market. I'm thinking about picking up a Copperhead but I'm not so sure it's that big of an upgrade from the Diamondback series. If anyone out there owns both the Copperhead and the Diamondback give me some feedback.

A friend of mine showed me a diamondback and the buttons felt kind of cheap to me, almost fragile.

Not sure if you've read this review or not...

I own both the Diamondback and the Copperhead and compare the two in the review. I do not feel that the Copperhead is a "big" upgrade over the Diamondback. It does have a number of substantial improvements though (laser vs. IR, improved drivers, Copperhead Toolkit w/ weights...but this will cost extra).

No I haven't. I'm following the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" approach. So far, I have no problems with my Copperhead. I did update the drivers but not the firmware.

Hey that review was just what I needed. I'm still on the fences on ordering the Copperhead. The only real problem I have with the Diamondback is that sometimes after a cold boot the mouse is not detected. I have to unplug then replug the mouse back into the USB slot to have it activate. This only happens rarely but when it does it is very annoying. Any ideas on resolving this?

Great, glad that helped. I had that very same problem with the Diamondback as well (no such problem with the Copperhead though). I think I narrowed down the cause to a USB hub that I was using. Once I plugged the Diamondback directly into my PC the problem never cropped up again.
