Also,
You can set AA from within the game, but no AF, is it better to just force this from the driver control panel?

Thanks!
The AF should be locked in the Quake 4 profile unless you removed the predefined tag. The game actually sets the AF level depending on the options you choose. Using the game's high quality setting automatically uses 8xAF. I'm not sure what level of AF the lower settings default to.

I played for 3 hours last night multiplayer....it was awesome. Felt like old times quake 3 style again.

There were enough differences though, I enjoyed the new rail...it brought back so many memories.

It also ran really sweet for me, just upgraded to 2 gb ram think that helped as well. I was running at 1600x1200, with high settings, the only thing I disabled was shadows. I know shadows usually a performance killer, and I dont really need shadows for multiplay. I was hitting 60 fps cap, and in a big battle it might have dropped to around 35-40 fps.

Was good enough for me.

It is good to see a game right out of the box work, very rare to see that nowadays.

I did notice one map i was playing forgot name, i hit some big slowdowns, i could not tell if it was video lag or network lag. But once I switched server that seem to go away.

The good news around Quake 4 (and potentially anything based off doom 3) is that it will run "well" on a system F.E.A.R calls "medium"

i have been running it on win64 for a day now and it runs beautifully. it amazes me how much smoother it runs compared to all my FEAR playing i have been doing.

and enabling ultrashadow II is great (i know it doesnt do much, but i like knowing i am using those few transistors on the GPU)

Wow, what a great game. I started it up thinking I was going to be let down (Yeah, I shouldn't listen to the bitching about it, but sometimes people whine so much they drill it into you).

Man was I surprised! The animation is sweet and the music really adds to the action. The action from the beginning is just right in your face. The acting and AI is pretty sweet too (no where near FEAR obviously).

Gonna play some more...

When you say 'enabling ultrashadow II', do you mean actively? I'm going to pick my copy up in half an hour, and am just wondering if there's any kind of tweaking I'll need to do before I jump into the game.

Ridiculous DOES not have an 'e' in it. It comes from "ridicule" and has less than nothing to do with the colour red.
