Went to Best Buy, picked up F.E.A.R. DVD off the shelf. Asked about Quake 4 and a kid went in the back and grabbed me one of the only 4 copies availible. Now I've developed a sudden sickness and need to *cough* leave work early

After havieng 65$ worth of best buy gift cards, and preorderd from them. they told me they *WONT* sell me a copy untill the 20th, as they put it "Quake 4's REAL release date". So i had to go to gamestop to buy my copy. Wow im pissed.
However, the mutliplayer CTF is pritty fun with a 150ms ping lag isnt that bad a bit chopy but not bad. Good preformance at 1600x1200 4xaa HQ Anyone know if there are linux server binarys out? The servers name 'claim' to be linux but people like to BS about it to lure gamers into their ****ty windows boxes heh.

I am disappointed that with OpenAL enabled(latest drvs, Aud2 ZS) the game fails to start. Its has to be set to "default". I'm seriously considering giving the X-Fi another go...God forbid, I can't run the lastest enhancements ..hehehehe And My desktop gamma is a mess after exiting the Q4, it seems to keep the game settings.

Okay, so here is my $0.02
My setup: P4 2.4C (Northwood) at 2.8 (was 3.0 but upgrading to 2GB RAM I had to cut back on the speed some to stablize it) 865 based board 6800 GT (AGP) at 390/1.05 2GB (4*512) Corsair VS PC 3200 SB Live Value 74GB Raptor WinXP SP2 81.84v2 XG drivers Dell 2005FPW Well, I had to tweak the .cfg settings to get native res with my monitor, but after that I used the following in game settings: Textures: High Everything else on/max AA*2 AF*4 V-synch on With all that, my gameplay is SMOOTH. Even the outside at the very beggining, I noticed no pause/stutter. Only played through the first level, but no slowdown with combat that I noticed. Absolutley STUNNING visuals. Runs right in the Q2 vein of gameplay. In MY opinion, runs better than D3 (then again I also have added 1GB more RAM since then so who knows). Anywho, back to playing!!! |

Is it true that there is reloading? I hate the idea that I have to reload in a Quake game. I know its to add realism but its quake!
