Yep. Same thing happened to me. I thought it was pretty funny.

I saw the floating dead when I adjusted settings, switching HDR off for instance. I must say it runs quite poorly, not sure what is going on there but it seems to stutter a lot and drop to low framerate at times. Even @ 1024x768 without HDR without AA on 3500+/x800pro, framerates didn't seem too bad but it just feels choppy. It's not even using enough RAM to need the HDD either

Heh, cool new power you have there Clay.

Is there any sort of benchmark based on the Lost Coast? << I don't feel like going through the 5 CDs install and then the hour or two of steam updates, decrypting, etc. tonight. I guess I'll get to it this weekend. >>

really was short, but really nice with all the HDR (the church) but I would expect more from this becasue they have been working on this for like a year.

You should just be able to install the Steam standalone client then select Lost Coast out of the games menu after you log in. I doubt it needs the full compliment of HL2 files in order to run.

I just played it here, 1280x1024, HDR, 4x/16x, Everything but Vsync with no probs. Looks great. The commentary was good too.

Hmm, I didn't know that. Thanks for the info. That'll be much quicker.

To be honest .. I thought FarCry's HDR looked much better.... Still looked nice.. but not what I was expecting. Would have been cool if HL2 was all in HDR. But hey .. it was free so I cant really complain as far as this goes

wow wtf, this thing is like 5 minutes long and I wasn't all that impressed by it. The church would of been impressing if I wouldn't have seen it in a video last march. WTF valve?

Well, just finished up myself. It was VERY short. Kinda disappointed in that. But as far as a "Tech Demo" goes, very impressive. Water looked GREAT. Kept looking into the sun (don't to that at home kids) just to see my "vision adjust". Textures in the church were outstanding. Did notice that in some parts your vision never completely adjusts. Example was in the church when the copter had knocked out a few windows, I went to the left side and looked down the row trying to get a bead on a combine guy, sunlight in my left me blinded. NICE.

Ran allright on my system at 1680*1050 with 2AA/4AF everything maxed out. Did chug a little when things got intense, but that was expected. I'll go through it again at 1280*1040 and see how it goes.

All in all, yes it was a prettier HL2 and does show off the abilities of the engine.

Wish we could have gotten into the town that was being bombed though. Would have LOVED to see how the HDR affected the zombies and such.

I liked the simpler look because it blended with the other themes I use

I guess if you are a luna or classic man, it looks fine ( ) but if you use themes, it looks poopy

Cept for the min/max modes

I love dat !!!

Wrt the tech demo, looks good but a bit on the short side

Maybe there will be Lost Cost 2 : Loster ?

Man this level is buggy, I think they rushed it. Played it again and the fisherman stood at the gates and didn't open them so I got a boat and climbed up over the gates. Got to the stairs that get destroyed and destroyed them myself. Went around the and came back over the top to see the stairs perfectly intact, lol. Then I was at the cathedral and the door to go to the outside gunship bit didn't get opened like it did before. Then it crashed. Heh.
