I thought they could have used more of the effects they were talking about in the commentary. "To do this we need to spend loads of time doing so and so and so... etc", and then theres 1 peice of material showing the effects.

A few more shots of my running around on the other side of the "coast" segment

Wish I had thought of it earlier

And the leeches only extend a little way from the spawn site. On the other side you can swim around, no probs

Game play == 12x10 at 2x/8x

Very smooth although once again the cathedral section chugged a little

It's surprising how big this map really is once you get to the other side

Some shots are over forum limit for size so I am imageshackin em.



The bridge, sadly, you cannot walk on. You fall right through.

Thanks for the tip sazar. Fun stuff on the other side. It's crazy when you see how the backend of the "other" side is optimized and drawn only when facing the proper side. It's fun to see all the little optimizations in games.

I ran it pretty well @ 1600x1200 2xAA/8xAF everything maxed and it looks lovely

It makes me even more annoyed with FEAR, which IMO doesn't look as good but chops and stutters even on my system.....

Fantastic demo of HDR and I look fwd to aftermath ...

Fear uses extremely high texture resoluions. If you slap another GB in your machine the stuttering will go away.

agreed. FEAR looked the part, but it just didnt have the moves

I seriously doubt that Lost Coast is Valve's #1 priority. I don't think they had people working full time on it.

They are working on other projects also, so who cares if it took long, we have it, and thats all that matters now.
