Default Gigaworks S700-2 (unofficial) Upgrade set

Just wanted to pass along....if you're like me and purchased the Gigaworks S700 with the intention on later upgrading it to a full 7.1 setup only to find out that Creative discontinued their S700-2 upgrade kits months ago, I did some digging around and found an alternative. Cambridge SoundWorks, owned by Creative, sells a compariable 2.0 set that closely matches the wattage, frequency & size specs of the S700/S750 satts called the Cambridge SoundWorks Newton Series™ MC100. They're a little more expensive than the old upgrade set but they're the best alternative to getting the most out of your system.

Doh, I just posted the same thing to reply to your statement on the other thred but yah, you can also do this with other systems e.g. Klipsch Promedia Users using RSX Series sattelites. Just wondering if you jumped the gun and did this? I was thinking of getting that MC150 center for my S700. IF you read stuff at 3dsoundsurge, some ppl used Boston CR67 bookshelves with Promedias and some Mission & ENergy bookshelves with the gigaworks. All reportedly blended well with the systems even though they could'nt really do anything for the sub's crossover point.

why the heck did they re-brand the sats as cambridge soundworks? I mean the S750's were a popular seller for a while and creative boxed a s700 with the upgrade set for awhile when s750's ran low.

The MC100 & MC150 are actually higher spec than the S700/S750 satts and should sound better.

LTech221, haven't taken the plunge yet but will soon. Not a bad idea about replacing that center speaker either. Have you heard the MC150 yet?

I havent heard the MC150, but I would imagine a fuller sound compared to the MC100 due to two larger drivers.
