I installed the 81.89 beta today and the picmip tweak seems to be no longer needed. There is no change in FPS now when applying after each map load. The people who experienced a boost with this new beta probably never used the tweak previously so didn't know. As far as the multiGpu tweak, I never got any significant boost with 81.87 and same with 81.89.

With the 81.89/81.94 drivers something has changed. When you first load a map, the picmip tweak isn't that needed. When i hit . to run it now, i gain maybe 1-2fps, that's all.

However, if you alt-tab out and back into game, fps drops by ~25% back to the level of previous drivers. Hitting . to run the picmip tweak restores performance again.

So in short, the picmip tweak doesn't really improve things a lot anymore, maybe 2-3%, but if you alt-tab out of COD2 at all, you will still need it.

U know COD 2 seems to be running quite well for me in 1280x1024, x4aa + x8 af

I aint applied this tweak and i'm running 89.89 driver.

U think driver update will make any difference? I guess i should take all the fps i can get.

[one tweak i have doen is set hunkmegs to 512mb]

Exelento!

exactly the same settings as on Myshkinbobs pic but with a 7800GT card.
playing Call of Duty2 now on my plasma realy rocks! i cant imagine even the 360 can keep up
60hz on my plasma and with V-Sync on i get 60fps most of the time

I've tried everything (including the configs) and I still only get about 20 +/- fps in DX7 !!!!!!!!
I have an FX5500 (PCI...'not PCI express' ...it's a Dell).
I am soooo ticked off at this game because it was really the only one I found to work in this thing.
I've downloaded the most recent FX drivers to supposedly improve COD2 performance but nothing has helped.
I can run Half-Life2, UT2k4 and COD,COD:UO fine. Although the fps aren't real great on cod/cod:uo.
I finally managed to diable the onboard video card and it's drivers, but I feel there may be something I'm missing.

Please help!

Thanks
HomieJay

Edit: When I try to run in DX9, I get 2 ... TWO FPS
AA = Off
Bilinear
NO Shadow Detail, NO Dyn Lighting, Smoke Smoothing OFF, SLI = Yes, All Textures on LOW .... it really stinks.
I just can't believe it runs this poorly.

Edit#2: (specs)
P4 3.0ghz
1gb Ram
FX5500 (PCI) 256mb
