It's a 12pp/5vp vs. the GT's 16pp/6vp, but the higher clock speeds more than make up for it, and with the potential overclocking the GS outdoes the GT easily. It's built on a 110nm process vs. the GT's 130nm, hence the higher clocks on the GS. Both use the same ram if I'm not mistaken...

All in all, the GS is a much better buy than the GT.
So wait, the GS is built on a G7x core? The Rage3D article linked somewhere else hinted that it was a modified 6800GT/U core.

No, I wish though , it's just built on the 7800 PCB.

Can you unlock pipelines on the GS, or is it stuck at 12?

I read in either this thread or another on the GS, that it only has 12 pipes. Not 16 with 4 disabled.

GS is using nv42, so you can't unlock it. If you are overclocking, I still think GT will retain the upper hand.

Well, considering that XFX has already come out with a 485MHz GS at launch, I have a feeling the GS is very OC-friendly.

Well it depends, OC favors the 6800 GS I believe, with a 520 overclocks it has 6.24GP of shader power vs an OC of 6800 GT to 410 6.56GP, and it isn't really behind when your comparing at stock 5.1 GP vs 5.6 GP.

This is a really good products targeted at the performance mainstream bracket. I would like one myself if I was shopping in this price bracket.
