Default EA Games version of Steam, called EA downloader

Today EA games announces a new service that will let you purchase your games online and download them imminently, once they are released. This new service is called EA's downloader, by installing a small 6 meg application you will be able to use this service for new games and game updates/patches.

My site FPSadmin.com will be helping EA promote this new service by offering 10 free copies of BF2:SF.

Head on over to my site for more info and learn how to enter our contest

Regardless of WHICH software house is promoting an online distribution service, HOW MANY of them should we install in a near future ? If after EA also Activision, Ubisoft, Take2, etc... -just to name a few- will implement an online distribution model, our computers will be littered with funky DRM software spying on us, chewing up resources and possibly conflicting between themselves, the drivers and whatever application they deem "unworthy" or "unholy" to run on our system.

Plus, the HL2 experience has taught me that whatever a game is worth, it's better to have a nice CD and a booklet, especially when there's no gain (or money saving) from owning a "virtual" copy of the game.
