Yeah, I think the only thing this game really really REALLY needs is some sort of diving move. It just seems natural to be able to dive sideways through a room in this game, but its just not there. Its more than just the slow mo effect, its the pace of the game in both MP and SP. In MP, you need to be able to do something quick because unless someone sucks or has some really crappy luck (you know, firing 30 rounds at close range and not getting a single hit ), they can take you down if they see you and they have the right gun for the job.

I have yet to actually play an MP game with slowmo though... never found a server that was running it in the demo, and I just played a few rounds tonight.

Whats your favorite game mode and favorite map?

You both have 2GBs of RAM... maybe that is a factor. Will be interesting to see if a 512MB GTX eliminates the slowdowns when just 1GB of RAM is in the system....

EDIT: meant to say 'slowdowns in FEAR'

Thanks.
I haven't bought a game at full price for maybe as long as 6yrs, and unfortunately the FEAR demo didn't change that, IOW, I'd be happy to spend up if they started making them more exciting....having said that, FEAR does have at least 3 excellent weapons, does have the best sound effects I've ever heard, does have great shadows, does have amazing graphics/graphical effects if you have a 6800GT or higher and is damn creepy.

If you're a FPS fan, then you must get this game, just buy it used or new and sealed in 6 months, don't pay full price for it.
Also, 10x7 with most settings maxed is what you're after, 12x9 looks better again....I'm definately gonna crank this one up on my next system/video card.

So far, Far Cry is the best FPS I've played lately, better than Q4/COD2 IMO.

I gig is fine as long as your machine isn't desperate for a reformat, and you don't run the game over emule or something, FEAR needs a powerful video card to avoid stutter and lag, something like the new 6800GS would be perfect for 800x600-10x7, of course there's always the 7800GT, X1800XT 256 as well

I play at 1024x768 4xAA 8xAF all settings at medium (not much difference from high) soft shadows off and I get a constant 40+ fps.

I got about halfway through the game. Got sick of the same guns, and the same stupid enemies in the same damn office looking buildings. And crawling through Air Ducts? Cummon! And the damn Slow-mo made it too easy. Looked cool though. Not that cool, but cool.
I'm playing X3:Reunion now. Space is a nice change of pace. And it's freakin gorgeous.

As I alluded to earlier, the games still aren't progressing in the manner I'd like, but FEAR does have great sound, smoke, dust and so on, plus the enemy animation is pretty decent,....it's worth getting IMO, but don't go crazy on hardware for it's sake.
