Er ..hate to sound like a n00b but what X2 CPU driver? I installed the drivers from the motherboard cdrom and downloaded the latest nforce drivers , also I've read the dual core hotfix is only for people running Cool'N Quiet?, I dont have that enabled.

The AMD X2 CPU driver. Check AMD's website. They have one for XP-32 and XP-64. The CPU driver mainly fixes issues where you get really weird slow downs (like super slo-mo) or fast-forward, normal, fast-forward, normal, etc. type behavior.

http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/..._13118,00.html

or specifically (XP-32 one)

http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/cont...ies/amdcpu.exe

The hotfix is supposed to be mainly for cool-n-quiet enabled systems but many of us have found that it fixes the affinity issue with various games and it also improves performance even though we don't use cool-n-quiet.

The CPU driver can. I'm not sure about the microsoft hotfix. I haven't tried enabling the option to see hotfixes in the add/remove programs control panel to see if it showed up. I'd create a restore point before installing the hotfix just in case. Apparently, the hotfix will be part of the next service pack so you could just wait until it's released although I have no idea when that will be.

Make sure to create a new profile for the full game versus the demo. The full game EXE is speed.exe which clashes with Need for Speed Underground. I had to delete that profile and make a copy of the NFSU2 version. After that, I got SLI working (green bars for proof). My FPS on the opening menu went from mid 60s to just over 100. BIG difference.

Yeah, same here (i.e. had to delete the profile for NFSU).

How do you feel about shadows? I can do 1600x1200 with everything maxed and NO shadows and easily pull 60fps most of the time with dips to the high 30s - low 40s. Or, I can run 1280x1024 and MAX shadows for about the same level of performance. I know it eventually boils down to MY taste, but I was curious as to others' line of thinking.

I just got my Black Edtion and I was also hopeing it was going to all be on a DVD instead of 4 CD's and a bonus DVD,but I love this game ,had to break out my MOMO raceing wheel ,plus I turned off motion blurr ,I can't stand motion blurr ,looks like they would have it in the menu where you could disable it ,but long as it works cutting it off in the regedit,it will be fine.I don't know why they made two versions anyway since it was'nt about $5 difference.
