Default FreeBSD port installs two drivers

I'm running FreeBSD 6, and when I install off the port, I get two drivers (nvidia_drv.o and nvidia_drv.so) added to my X11 drivers. This makes X11 fail to load the driver with an error (EE) nvidia is a once-only module (or something like that).

When I realised this I deleted nvidia_drv.so. Does anyone know why there are two driver files, and why it causes me trouble having both installed seeing as they are put there by default?

That's bizarre; which Xorg release are you seeing this with and what does your X configuration file look like? Please also attach the Xorg log file (from the failing case).
