The actual change in pixel density is only equivalent to going from 640x480 to 960x720, which is hardly a revolutionary jump.
I take it you haven't seen it on a HDTV then.

I don't know what reality you come from, but in mine there's quite a night and day difference, especially with a DVI cable. You may as well just ask why you would use a component cable vs a composite cable. Huge difference.

I was thinking more of using it as a widescreen pc monitor with the vga cable?

Yeah so the one I suggest also has VGA port too and it got HDTV compatible for the same price. It probably will save you time to upgrade to HDTV, by next year when Vista come out it will ignore monitors if it plugged in VGA cable, Vista will work with DVI port because it has HDCP build in it.

After reading the thread at first I though oh no now console gaming is going to be as expensive as PCs. But a quickie search shows some decent 26" HDTVs at about $500 US I think. So still cheaper. Heck what am I saying, peole were spending $500 on a good SDTV before. So 500 + 300 (console) is around 800. And I'm not familiar with good audio/speakers additions for consoles or other enhancements, quality cables, etc. But looks like the quality video card for a PC (around $300 - 600) and a few other PC stuff keeps the PC price noticeably higher.

I got the VGA AV cable yesterday and hooked up my XBox360 to my NEC FP1355 21" CRT. All resolutions were available except 1280x1024, so I ended up picking 1360x768 in widescreen format.

I don't know why that is for you. I currently own the 360 VGA cable and setting the resolution to 1280x1024 (LCD's native res.) works just fine.

So the standard refesh rate is 60hz? No danger that a LCD might get damanged..... thats good to know. Is the VGA cable a regular analog VGA one or DVI one? Thanks in advance!

Well obviously. You honestly think Microsoft would sell an accessory that would physically damage LCD monitors?

Not on purpose but considering how many LCDs are out there and that I have seen quite a lot of weird stuff surrounding computer parts or in general with tech like this in last 20 or so years, that I can surely say that its better to ask and verify results before ending up with dead/damaged tech. Thanks for answering my questions!

I guess Microsoft reserved the 1280x1024 resolution for LCD's only.
