Default Painkiller: Black crash on save and load - possible hard drive issue?

Ok, bought Painkiller: Black last week, and it has been working perfectly up until now. Loading a level initially is fine, but if I quick save or quick load, the game crashes, everytime. I haven't changed anything, it just stopped working. Is this a possible sign of the hard drive beginning to fail? Or if it's something else, what?

-Thanks

If the game version is 1.00 i think you need to patch the game, IIRC this was an issue with the original version, if you've installed BooH that should update the game to ver 1.5 from memory

Well, Black edition is both the original and BooH, on DVD, V1.6. I'm currently downloading the patches, but that won't be done until morning, as the newest patch 1.64 needs the other patches, 1.63, 1.62, to be installed, and they total over 450mb. Which hurts. Hopefully that'll fix it, but if not...

Doubt it's the HDD. If your HDD was fraking up you wouldn't have to ask anyone about it, you'd KNOW.

I had the same issue starting at the prison level, one of the 1.3 ( can't remember which, think it was the first) solved it for me. Good luck with it. PK's a great ride
