Default Thief-Deadly Shadows issue help please!

Okay, so after installing the .NET 1.1 SP1 patch, I got FarCry to work with DXTweaker and it seems to not have any more issues!! It even runs great with Quadruple buffering!! I also got Halo to work with it just fine.

But, I cannot get Thief-Deadly Shadows to even launch with DXTweaker. it gives the following error each time, and this is before even trying to implement any tweaks. This is what the error looks like with Notepad:

Yeah, this is a known issue.

BTW, you don't have to do it in the INI file. You can just do it in the options menu in the game.

Do you mean .net services or programs?
Which .net services can I disable (I hate having things run in the background).

Default VSYNC+Triple buffering in SLI.. will it work in 2005.2beta?

recently i got SLI setup

with DXTweaker 2005.1 i can get TB+VSYNC to work in virtually any game with single video card. many thanks, great app!
BUT in SLI AFR mode requesting 2 or 3 backbuffers automatically disables VSYNC
well, i tried to play with BackBufferCount,SwapEffect and PresentationInterval in my application with no luck so i start to wonder if it even possible to enable VSYNC+TB in SLI on Direct3D level?

so.. is this problem solved in 2005.2beta? are there any workarounds?
if no, is it possible to make a software emulation of triple buffering behavior (ex. using hi-res timers, hook present, copy on VSYNC)? or fix nvidia drivers?

Hi Folks,

Newbie poster, so forgive me for raising this query so long after it was originally posted - but YES I did get this app to work with FEAR in SLI just once!!!

Thing is, I cannot repeat it like you say PeoplesAgent, this app and SLI seem to hate each other - but strangely I DID get it work.

I'd attempted it a few times and no luck - then after a 'tweak' within DX Tweaker didn't produce success, I reverted back to the default TB option and it worked My results were as follows:-

Without TB
Min FPS = 29
Avg FPS = 41
Max FPS = 60
%below 25 = 0
%between 25-40= 34
%above 40 = 66

With TB Enabled
Min FPS = 38
Avg FPS = 49
Max FPS = 60
%below 25 = 0
%between 25-40= 15
%above 40 = 85

It's weird how it worked once and then never again All I can get now is exactly the same issue as Peoples Agent; it just disables VSync altogether.

Has anyone any ideas? I assume DX Tweaker works fine in Single card mode?
Anyway, best regards,

DC

Hey everybody,

2 questions:

#1
which is the correct setting for triple-buffering?
... PRESENT CHANGER ... 2 or 3 ?!

In this thread they say 2, in a magazin they say 3?

#2
is it necessary to start applications I want to be running with TB from DX-Tweaker always? or is TB finally enabled for each application I "registered"
(established a profile) under DX-Tweaker....

nup its not because of DXT at all. its all SLI's fault.

Vsync doesn't work with SLI enabled. a person at our forums actually looked inside the drivers code and it purposely disables Vsync

he was able to change the code to stop that happening but it caused games like WOW to play up. (frames were rendered in the wrong order)

Vsync does work with SLI. Atleast in BF2. The Load Balancing bar will not show up with sli enabled but it does work. Performance is higher with sli compared to non sli(I've checked with friends machine). The main problem is that if you can't maintain higher fps than the refresh then the fps drops to half the refresh. This is where TB comes into play. However, SLI, DXTwkr, and TB do not work together. SLI, TB, and Vsync will only work in OpenGL games I believe.

Yeah SLI+vsync works fine for me also.

Here are some results from FEAR (this is without using dxtweaker):

FEAR+SLI+Vsync On
41/41/57 (0/0/100)

FEAR+SLI+Vsync Off
53/81/267 (0/0/100)

FEAR+Single GPU+Vsync On
19/32/59 (7/73/20)

FEAR+Single GPU+Vysnc Off
26/42/81 (0/60/40)
