I've just double-checked, and the bug is definitely not present on my 5600 here (runnng 7676 drivers, in DX80 mode with Pixel Shaders 1.3).

I do believe that the bug does occur on our 6600 PCI-Express test hardware. So more data points that it's not necessarily 6800 specific.

We don't have a 5900/5950 around to test with here, but I would assume that that would also have the bug, given your Quadro FX 540 results.

Telomerase

Telomerase is an enzyme that adds telomere repeat sequences to the 3' end of DNA strands. By lengthening this strand DNA polymerase is able to complete the synthesis of the "incomplete ends" of the opposite strand.
Telomerase:

* is a ribonucleoprotein;
* Its single RNA molecule provides an AAUCCC (in mammals) template to guide the insertion of TTAGGG.
* Its protein component called TERT ("TElomere Reverse Transcriptase") provides the catalytic action.
* Thus telomerase is a reverse transcriptase; synthesizing DNA from an RNA template.

These fools probably made a contract with worldpay that says you shall have no payment method besides me.

I just wished that they made such a devil deal with a service that doesn't send around your password in unencrypted mail unrequested (and do it again after you change it) and which didn't ignore my corrospondence to close my account

My old XFX 5900XT had the bug too. I would be still using that card now if the fan hadnt been so brittle. I replaced the fan but broke the RAM doing so hence the 6800GT. But yeah, same results.

Gavriel, does it do it with PS 1.4 enabled? I'm sure I saw the bug before PS 1.4 came along...

I can confirm that this bug is present with 7800 GT with 8178 drivers.

System: Dual core opterons, Suse 10, Cedega 5.0.3.

I've seen this problem in all the usual places shown on the screenshots in this thread... This problem is very visible anytime the floor texture is that metal grid thing, its used very often in HL2... At appears and dis-appears depending on the angle you look at it with..

The only way of getting rid of the problem is to specify -dxlevel 70 option to HL2.exe, but dxlevel 70 has annoyances on its own, no shadows, and early object fadeout thing where boxes and other props are transparent until you are really close to them.

That was in CS:S, where it allowed cheating (ie you see ppl hiding behind boxes etc) that is indeed fixed.

But still present in HL2... Boxes/barrels etc are transparent at a medium distance, only fading in as you are are close to them...I searched and searched for it, I think there must be some console variable or something to fix it, but to no avail...
