For me that is still not sounds that I will have a VIVO support on my 6600GT.
The time goes by and it is possible that I will never use what I payd for.

I will check next time double.

Please don't spam a thread up like this else I might even close it. Just check the rivatv project if you want to know more.

video in graphics card is a more or less useless feeature anyway.
it adds an considerable amount of premium to a gfx card, while you can
get a standalone PCI card (with TV tuner) for as low as 19,- !!

and you keep this card when upgrading your gfx card.

I take it there is still no more news on this front?

This is becoming a health issue for me now as the only place I can put a tv in my office gives me RSI. The whole point of getting the 6600GT was for the VIVO functionality if there is no solution soon I will be trading in my cards for something else and never buying nvidia again. I have been waiting almost a year to be able to use this function.

I don't know if that's really work under windows, but on the paper my card is supposed to be able to capture in mpeg2 :-)
In a (near ?) future, vivo could work under linux, also using internal mpeg2 encoder (that was the reason to buy this card for me) ?
Thank

From my understanding and basic research, there's VIVO functionality using rivatv kernel module, BUT, support stops at the 5200 cards, so Moderators, please don't point there and say "use that", because it's in an unusable state at the moment. Not to mention that it's only been tested on x86 architecture, us amd64 users (a growing number) cannot use that driver with any kind of reliability even IF our cards were supported.
I have a 7800 GT here, and more than enough VHS to digitalize than my hard drive can contain, so this poll IS relevant, and while nvidia opening up the i2c interface is nice, it's not always enough. The folks over at rivatv could use a bit of help, imo.

I recently bought a MSI NX7600GT Diamond Plus, with all the bells and whistles I could wish for (HDMI and ViVo mainly), for my MythTV-driven HTPC. After putting everything together I find out that:

*) The latest drivers (97.46) doesn't support HDTV on PAL TVs
*) Video In (SAA7115) isn't supported by nVidia or any Open Source projects

Please nVidia, your customers are migrating to real operating systems (Linux/BSD, as opposed to a severely and unstable 32-bit GUI for DOS!) and would like all the features, that you support on inferior platforms.

An enhanced version of XvMC (think PureVideo) would be nice too.

Despite these shortcomings, I really do enjoy the performance and stability of the nVidia Linux drivers.

It will be very good to have ViVo support under Linux, I have a 7800 GTX and this card is not supported by RivaTV :/
