@jemw: please see Appendix C. Installed Components in the NVIDIA Solaris graphics driver README (http://download.nvidia.com/solaris/1...ppendix-c.html) for a list of the files installed.

Hi there --

I'm running into problems with the drivers only wanting to run at 8bpp -- no matter what I put in the Display subsection of the Screen section, the Xorg.0.log always reports these lines:

(II) Setting vga for screen 0.
(II) NVIDIA(0): Creating default Display subsection in Screen section
"Screen0" for depth/fbbpp 8/8
(==) NVIDIA(0): Depth 8, (==) framebuffer bpp 8
(==) NVIDIA(0): Default visual is PseudoColor
(==) NVIDIA(0): Using gamma correction (1.0, 1.0, 1.0)

Is this related to the new EDID code?

I am getting exactly the same problem, though in 1.0-8178. Nothing I've changed is making a difference :-(

Cheers,

Chris

@Fraxas: please generate and attach an nvidia-bug-report.log file (if possible after starting X with -logverbose 6).

I've restored 24bpp by:
  • Uninstalling the Nvidia packages using pkgrm
  • Removing the nvidia lines from /etc/path_to_inst
  • Removing the nvidia lines from /etc/driver_aliases
  • Doing a reconfigure reboot (i.e. reboot -- -r)
  • Reinstalling the Nvidia packages
