Default Unable to load the kernel module 'nvsound.ko'.

When I run the latest NFORCE-Linux-x86=1.0-0310-pkg1.run, it gives me this error:

ERROR: Unable to load the kernel module 'nvsound.ko'. This is most likely
because the kernel module was built using the wrong kernel source files.
Please make sure you have installed the kernel source files for your
kernel; on Red Hat Linux systems, for example, be sure you have the
'kernel-source' rpm installed. If you know the correct kernel source
files are installed, you may specify the kernel source path with the
'--kernel-source-path' commandline option.

I've tried specifying the kernel source path and it gives the same error. Linux distro is Fedora 4. I also installed the network portion of the driver and it works just fine.

This is the log file it creates:

Is there a bug list or any possible fixes?

I've googled and searched both fedoraforums and this forum and havn't come across a solution. Is emailing the bug email address the only way to get a status or description of the bug?

thanks!

There are no known workarounds right now. You could try using the open source driver as an alternative. Yes, emailing linux-bugs@nvidia.com is the best way to obtain a status update on this or any other bug.

Thanks,
Lonni

Use the ALSA driver from Fedora and not for the obsolete OSS. Fedora is based on ALSA. The driver is named snd_intel8x0 and will be configured by the Fedora-Tool system-config-soundcard.

This bug turned out to be due to an erroneous entry in /etc/modprobe.conf. If anyone else is experiencing symptoms matching the problem described in this thread, please generate and post an nforce-bug-report.log.

Thanks,
Lonni
