Default Hot or not?

Using Rivatuner while playing games my 6600gt temperature is on steady 89C. I'm wondering if it's too hot?

I'd also like to know which are 'safe' or 'optimal' temperatures? Also is it good to enable 'Notify when GPU core temperature exceeds threshold box'?

It's a little hot, maybe you can install a fan to move the air around your graphics card inside the case, or put a different fan on your gpu. I've seen hotter though. If 89 is what it is at in games it should be somewhat okay. But, many 6600gt's have fried at those temperatures, unlike other cards who can handle a little more heat. Good luck

It shouldn't be running that hot even with the crappy refference hsf, sounds like there might be a problem with the chipset mating to the heatsink, or possibly the fan, might want to start there before you consider replacing it....when the last time you clean your case out?

are you sure you use Rivatuner because because temp quickly decreases when you exit the game, even if you use alt+tab

anyway I'm taking it back to the retailer for fix, since have a guarante and I'm not allowed to open the PC.
