Geforce FX 5200 Random Lock ups
I have a Geforce FX5200 AGP video card which came with my Dell system. I recently reformated the computer, and now I get random video lock ups in certain games. The lock ups only last for like 10 seconds, (sound, video and mouse all lock up) and then everything continues. I have the latest drivers installed for my video card...Could there be an IRQ sharing problem since sound AND video are both freezing? Please help

Re: Geforce FX 5200 Random Lock ups
I found the FX 5200 and FX 5700 are prone to crash more than any other GPU when your system has both Microsoft nv___ dlls (included in your Windows OS) with NVIDIA's nv___ dlls (downlaoded from NVIDIA.com). If you download the NVIDIA.com drivers you need to remove the Windows OS drivers completely for the best stability.
This is to say
1) Boot to safe mode or VGA mode
2) use the Add-remove programs to remove all NVIDIA video drivers,
3) Boot to safe mode or VGA mode
4) Install from the download archive. (do NOT use the Windows Found New Hardware wizard).
I used to drive a Heisenberg, but whenever I'd glance at the speedometer, I'd get lost.
