AGP 6800 GS from Albatron

Clocks are 350/1000 MHz and 12 pipe. I'm not surprised at the clocks, considering it's using the ol' NV40. It's certainly not as good a deal as the PCIe GS if MSRP is the same.

If its a NV40 with 12 pipes @ 350, wouldn't that make it kinda like a NU with GDDR3? If it lists for the same price as the PCIE version then it's a rip-off. My roommates 6800GS @ 500/1.1 is as fast as a 6800 Ultra.

so lets looks at this.

350 X 12 pipes = 4200 fill rate

I currently have a 6800nu with the extra pipes unlocked, but the darn thing will not OC even 1Mhz.

300 x 16 pipes = 4800 fill rate

Oh well I guess I will have to wait untill I have money for a PCIE mobo before I can upgrade my video card.

Cant find the thread to link to, but there was a guy over at the Overclockers UK
forum that had the same problem with overclocking. He got around it by doing the following:

1) Disable the pipe and vertex shader unlocks and put the card back to stock.
2) Find the max overclock for your card in the usual way, then back off the clocks a bit for stability.
3) Reopen the disabled pipes and vertex shaders.

May not work for you, but it has worked for a couple of 6800le cards that I have installed, and seems to give a nice boost.

I was reading somewhere...... http://www.theinquirer.net/ I think it was
were albatron was only clocking there 6800GS "agp" to 350
but other companies were going to 400 core with there's.

The GS "AGP" is the NV40 core and the "PCI-E" is the NV41.

So the up side might be that u can open up more pipes on the AGP card.

I look to see the AGP GS kick @ss. I see better
than GT speeds and nice clocks coming from it.

But I'm happy as a kid as christmas knowing I have a 425mhz factory clocked core 6800Ultra coming for my old AGP mobo.
I was going to get a AGP 6800GS but I found better for only 240 bucks. "LoL"

It kinda sucks they are slapping freaking 1100MHz memory on the GS when that's what come on the 6800ultra.
Though I hope my ultra I have coming will reach 1250+ with the Zalman on it.

Here is the deal how to OC an unlocked NU. I install the driver, Coolbits, OC it to for instance 370x900. I reboot and install Rivatuner, and unlock the pipes. Reboot. I actually have to use a reg file and copy nvstrap.sys (Rivatuner unlocker driver) manually into the sys32/drivers because the Nvstrap tab never appears on this Windows install. I figured out the correct values thru my backup Windows install.

Anyway, when you start Rivatuner again, you will see that you have 16/6 pipes and when you start the hardware monitor you´ll see that the clocks are for instance the 370x900. My 12x5 max OC was 390x900, but this way I could use it also when I unlocked the pipes to 16/6. I did run into some instability recently, it acts like an overheating issue, but the card maybe 3 degrees hotter on max. load. So I might have to up vcore with Nibitor or lower the core somewhat. One of these two should cure or reduce the instablity.

EDIT: I should learn to read the full thread first. Redphoenix basically already told you how to do it. Sorry guys.

this is no 6800 GS, you realize that right, it's a regular 6800 with GDDR 3 memory, which makes it a little better, but not much, basically, the defining factor of a 6800 GS was the nv42 core, which isn't being used here....
