Hi,
I'm running on a Toshiba S5200-801 laptop (460 Go) and since 1.0-8174 there is no X (freeze) if I don't insmod nvidia with NVreg_Mobile=1 (or 4). The problem is when I do that nvidia reports DFP-0 with a maximum pixel clock of 108 Mhz (Clock Range: 12.00 to 108.00 Mhz), which result in a bad resolution. The panel does 1600x1200 and with prior releases from nvidia (when you didn't have to do NVreg_Mobile) it reported a maximum pixel clock at 224 Mhz. Can you force the pixelclock? //Micke |

Hi,
I am in the same situation. I have been trying to get the nvidia drivers since 8174 to work on a Toshiba Tecra M3 with a nvidia GeForce Ge 6200 PCIE and they have never worked. Now I reverted back to 7676 and I am using gentoo linux. The problem is the nvidia drivers compiles fine. However, when I the X server starts, I get the black screen. When I look at the Xorg.0.log file, I get the same kind of refresh (Clock Range: 12.00 to 108.00 Mhz). It defines the wrong maximum resolution (1280x1024 instead of 1024x768). Even if I set the maximum resolution to 1024x768 with the right proper refresh rates, I still get the black screen. It has been very difficult to troubleshould the problem since no errors are reported in the Xorg.0.log file. I recently recompiled my entire system including the kernel headers, the kernel itself and the nvidia drivers. Still no luck. I have attached the Xorg log file. Hope someone can help Thanks, Paul PS: there is an EE messages at the end of the file that you can disregard. Even when my mouse was fine, I still got the same black screen |

Thanks a lot. 1.0-8174 is working well for me now, with RenderAccell+Composite, but what the heck newer is better... I'm going to give it try right now. Thank you for the nice Christmas gift!

With this drivers I still have various problems related to Composite extension:
- XV don't work - Moving OpenGL window outside screen bottom freeze server. - Accidental crashes. ![]() Without composite everything works ok. |

I'de like to give an advice about this "bug" "mistake" ecc ecc...
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=62334 http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=51331 I don't thik it's overheating because first of all I did some tests without the chassis of my PC and second I remembered that the nvidia FX series card (I have an FX 5900XT) downlocked automatically if the GPU goes overheated. |

Hi everyone,
I was wondering whether bug fixes could be backported to older versions of the driver to improve support for ancient hardware? My GeForce2 Ti would do just fine _if_ it were not for those strange glitches some random times. 1.0-8178 is a no-no for me - the latest version still running on that board would be 1.0-7174. I'd love to see an update to that one, sporting at least some of the major fixes in recent versions. TIA uziel |

no lock ups under windows! ----> not an overheated problem ----> linux driver issue. |
