Default Full screen secondary display mode?

Hello, I'm a Linux newbie and been using Windows nView for two years or so. What I want to do is to choose a similar conf to that I used on Windows, i.e., clone my desktop in my TV always but when a video is played. Then, the desktop should still appear on my monitor, while the TV would play the video full-screen. That could be set easily by nView option "full screen secondary display", but I haven't found out how to do the same (if possible) under Linux.

This is not possible on Linux. On Windows the drivers can do 'nasty' stuff like this but on Linux the drivers can only do 2d/3d rendering and they can't mess with the desktop. You can use twinview in non-clone mode and then use the xinerama switch of lets say mplayer or xinerama to let it render in 'fullscreen' on the TV. (xinerama tells mplayer/xine the 'visible' resolution of the TV so that images become fullscreen on it) Another way is to use separate X screens but for more information about setting it up read the driver README. (separate X screens gives you a desktop for your monitor and a separate one for your TV)
