XFX is advertising 350/1100, but the shipping product is 350/1000.

is'nt the PCIe version clocked @ 480 on the core??

seems silly to buy a cut down AGP version.

XFX has these listed on their website...

"XFX GeForce 6800 GS 256 MB DDR3 Extreme Edition" that is clocked at 450MHz.

"XFX GeForce 6800 GS 256 MB DDR3 XXX edition" that is clocked at 485MHz.

The standard AGP speed is 350MHz, as it is shown to be used by the eVGA product also.

This may be a design limitation. Does the AGP variant still rely on a HSI chip to translate from PCIe to AGP? If so, these produce lots of heat. Heat is one of the limiting factors for overclocking.

Still, it's a nice video card for the money.

the PCIe is a nice card for the money but the AGP version is pants by todays standards IMHO.

Wasn't the whole idea of the GS to make up for it's fewer pipes with higher core clockspeed? Having it clocked down to 350 puts it at a big disadvantage vs. the GT which it's supposed to replace.

No, it's using the classic NV40 -- no bridge.

The BIOS being shipped with the XFX 6800 GS AGP is fairly old - 5.40.02.15.10. Aluminum cooler as well.

Yea, no bridge chip, so it should save a few bucks.. compared to if it had the bridge chip.

If it is underclocked, SM3.0 and HDR modes in future games are gonna drag on those cards. In which case you would be better off getting an X800GTO or GTO2 IMO. Then you would have a faster card but sans 3.0/HDR but who cares at this juncture if you wont have the muscle to play in those detail settings.

Damn! Why underclocked! That just sucks.
