Hi.
I tried a quick search and didn't see anything that was similar to my situtation so I am starting a new thread. I have just installed Slackware 10.2 and I am able to load X with the "vesa" driver in xorg.conf, however when I switch to the "nvidia" driver X will not load. I've been able to load the nvidia driver before on CRT and LCD monitors however this time I'm using my computer as a media center and I'm trying to deploy it on a Sony Trinitron 20" TV. The resulting error when I use the nvidia driver is "Caught Signal 11. Server aborting" I'm kinda a noob at this and I'm not sure where to even start. So any help would be fantastic. I'm using the latest nvidia driver and it's powering a 5200FX. Here are the logs: |

Had the exact same problem myself -- just re-install the nvidia drivers.
It seems that everytime you re-compile X, you lose all the drivers associations (or something? I'm a n00b too). Re-installing worked for me, to a point. I'm here 'cause the graphics are screwed. ![]() |

I just reinstalled the nvidia driver and I get the same error. =(
On another post I found searching more I discovered that commenting out "glx" will allow the nvidia driver to load. It does work. However now I do not have access to openGL. This is something that I must have!!! Any ideas? Last edited by Decompiled; 01-02-06 at 02:56 PM. |

You're going to want to post your /var/log/Xorg.0.log and /etc/X11/xorg.conf if you want more help.

The nvidia error log attached in the first post has the xorg.conf & the Xorg.0.log contents! I assume that's why they want you to post them immediately. Thanks! |
