Hi,
I was glad to see 8175, but sad to note that the README isn't in text. It was a great help during -7676 installation, configuration, and debug to have the README available to view through "more" while I worked with the X config file. An HTML-only version makes it a real pain to refer to the information needed and X isn't running. The HTML is pretty and all, but the text is much more useful. Thanks, Dave |

How do I change Vertical Sync in CDE? I have a 20" LCD monitor, and after I have installed the drivers, I get an "out of sync" message. The vertical refresh rate is higher than 60Hz, which is max for that monitor in 1600x1200. I know how to change the vertical refresh rate in JDS, but the problem occurs before I log in, and log in to CDE. This was not a problem with the 1.0-7676 driver.

@davidl: a text README is still shipped with the .run archive (../NVIDIA-Solaris-x86-1.0-8175/NVDAgraphics/reloc/share/doc/NVIDIA/README.txt) and installed on the target system. I've attached it here for reference (.zip'd to accommodate the forum's file size constraints).

@game-master: the 1.0-8175 X driver enables the UseEdidFreqs option by default, it's possible that your problem is related to this change. You can try disabling this option.

Congratulations, thank you ! From what I can tell after the first couple of
hours working (and playing ) with this driver release, it is definitely a BIG step forward.Apart from fixing the nasty Xorg cpu-eater bug with __GL_SYNC_TO_VBLANK=1, this driver is genereally faster, for instance FlightGear (for me) is now significantly faster than under Windows. |

@Zander: one other thing: I'm using a GeForce 6200 AGP video card with my Solaris box. When I followed the guide for making a driver alias for my video card (to make the driver support my card), the alias appearenty already existed. Is it true that the drivers now come with driver aliases for regular GeForce video cards in addition to the officially supported Quadro cards? And if this is the case, could you add these cards to the Supported Products list? It would be very helpful to a lot of people.

Not sure this didn't work in 7676 (can't reboot to findout), but there's a problem with twinview (in separate display mode) with 8175. Cursor changes don't seem to have any affect in the second display (it looks like whatever was set in the primary display is set for the secondary - cursor shadows on the primary makes the secondary cursor have shadows). Another oddity is that in twinview single display mode, the max resolution it allows me to get is 2048x768, even though the displays separately will do 1280x1024. This is with a pcie gf6600 if that makes any difference. Anyone else having the same problem?

@game-master: yes, I believe aliases are now installed for all devices the NVIDIA Solaris graphics driver can drive; only Quadro graphics cards are officially supported, though.

I currently have NVIDIA-Solaris-x86-1.0-7676.run installed and configured. The README url Installation section does not address prior installations. I assume that it is necessary to remove a prior version.
Is that correct? Also I notice that the REAME url also includes env vars for OpenGL - Does this release also include OpenGL? Jim |

The 1.0-8174 .run package should handle existing installations correctly. Both 1.0-7676 and 1.0-8174 ship with 64-bit and 32-bit OpenGL libraries.
