Default Soundstorm NF7-S on Fedora Core 4 sound problems

As the title says i am using fedora core 4 and I am having trouble with sound from my soundstorm optical out on my NF7-S. I get sound for certain apps or certain sound formats. The only format that i know works all the time is OGG, other than that i don't hear anything but if i am playing a game like quake 4, UT2k4, RTCW-ET, Americas Army the sound works perfectly. I have tried using different drivers the most up to date ones on nVidias website and the drivers from realtek. They both work the same but the nVidia drivers give better functionality with the ALSA mixer.

How do i make the optical out produce all sound formats???

If you need more info just ask.
