Default What parts of xorg GLX/DRI does the NVidia driver overwrite?

I need to prepare a Linux installation so that a script sorts out switching between xorg GLX/DRI and the NVidia driver prior to starting the X11 server.

So far everything works except for the actual 3D modules.

Can anybody tell me which parts of xorg are actually replaced?

The /var/log/nvidia-installer.log file includes information on which files were backed up by the NVIDIA Linux software installer (typically libglx.a, libGLcore.a, Mesa's libGL.so, etc.).

Hmmm, not for me. It says backup_files is on, but it doesn't say it backs up files.

However, this was a reinstall after a previous NVidia driver so it wouldn't make sense to backup the xorg files again. Since I don't have the log from the first install I can't tell.

Any idea about the naming convention for the backup files?

The files are backed up to /var/lib/nvidia; there's a log file in that directory that lists all backed up files/symlinks, as well (prefixed with 100: and 2:, respetively; if you're interested, take a look at backup.{ch} in the nvidia-installer sources for details).
