Hopefully that mega texture technique works out well and it performs better than you would think looking at it.

Indeed. Looks better than BF2, and I bet my ass that it will run 10x better too.

fantastico!!

As a piece of technology, it's really good because it generates really good visuals, and that helps with player immersion. But almost more importantly, it's great for gameplay because you're finally unlocked from polygons. You derive all of your properties - vehicle traction, particles, audio effects - from the MegaTexture, even things like the stuff distribution of debris, foliage placement. All of these things can be derived from texture masks and so you no longer have to have a strip of polygons that separate the road texture from the grass texture. So it also helps with performance because we can have huge terrains that use less polygons and this disconnection between the polygons and the MegaTexture means we have more effects and more efficient texture usage as well.
I guess this game is where the video cards with more texture units will shine (i.e G70 & G71)

i really hope this is as good as BF2, i have never been keen on I.D's online gaming, doom3 was a crock, all i really want is a large playing field with good lag free net code, and 64 players.

Now.... all story about booster packs for BF2 at least makes some sense
Final attempt from EA to putting more cash into pocket before releasing of this Cramacks' jewel

Wow, that looks great. Hopefully we'll get a demo before the release.

Oh I think there are enough players for both.. everyone wont like the SciFi setting, while some will prefer it.. so given the assumption both are equally good, there will still be people who will prefer one over the other.
Im really looking forward to this aswell, looking promising atleast.

Yup much better than Bf2! But what about the recommended specs(any guesses?)? I'm getting a new comp soon and I'm gonna cry if it won't run well on it!!

From the looks of it, it seems that a 7800 GT/X1800 XL paired with a reasonable processor should be able to play this one pretty solidly.
