Looks like BenQ FP241W is finally here.
855.85 USD
http://www.us.ncix.com/products/inde...nufacture=BENQ

$949.99 Canadian
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...nufacture=BENQ

Product Specification
"The world's first LCD monitor with an HDMI interface and support for 1080p HD video signals."
http://www.benq.com/products/LCD/?pr...specifications
Well it might not be the first but hopefully it works better than Dell 2407

Looks like if everything works according to the specs this might be much better monitor than Dell 2407, at about the same price. Hope this will make Dell to come out with revision A03 to fix all the issue.

Many Dell 2407 owners still complain that color banding was only partially fixed in revision A02 and only in desktop mode.
My biggest problem with Dell 2407 is not being able to display 1080p, one day I like to buy the HD Blu-ray player and this monitor is going to be useless, even the 1080i will downscale to 720p

If price is right I might wait for the 30 inch BenQ FP301W, it should be available in retail Q3/Q4 this year

I'm confused. Why will the 2407 not display 1080p? It should just put a small black bar across the top and bottom of the image. 1920x1080 - the display has the pixels for it. Is it because it doesn't support running natively in 1080p?

I was wondering the same thing, even the 2405fpw should be capable of 1080p(i have never tested it though, my HD box's max out at 1080i). But just so everyone knows BenQ assembles all Dell LCDs so i dont think there would be much difference between the two

Check post #1210 here http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/show...ighlight=1080p

At their own thread, ChrisM (from the DELL Community Forum) hasn't yet explained "why".

WHY?

I'm guessing the only reason they say 1080p isn't supported is that the display's native resolution is "1200p". Therefore if you try to run a component 1080p input into the display it might not scale it or accept it properly. Just a guess.

The 2407 can display a normal 1080p signal through the DVI port but not an HDCP enabled 1080p signal. It seems like there is a limitation with the electronics used in the latest Genesis controller. The highest HDCP enabled signal that the 2407's DVI port can support is 720p (interlaced signals are also not supported).

If you install an HD-DVD drive into your PC and have an HDCP enabled video card the highest HDCP enabled resolution you will be able to see with the 2407 is 1280X720p. HDCP enabled resolutions at 1080i and 1080p are not supported by this LCD display. If HDCP is not enabled you will be able to display 420p, 720p and 1080p (interlaced resolutions are not supported via DVI).

AFAIK the 3007 does not have HDCP encryption capabilities.

I'll look around on the Dell forums to see if the 3007 is affected by these limitations.

The Dell 3007WFP requires a dual-link DVI graphic card that supports up to WQXGA (2560x1600) resolution.
The 3007 and was never promoted as HDCP compliant.
What is HDCP?

I'm fairly certain that all of the 07 models that Dell has released are HDCP compliant. That was one of the big selling points over the 05 models.

So these resolution limitations of the Dell 2407 happen only if we use a HDCP enabled 1080p signal from a HDCP enabled video card or player.
But... what happens if:
(1) we use a non-HDCP enabled 1080p signal from a HDCP enabled video card or player ?? Will the Dell 2407 display the full 1080p image? No?
(2) we use a non-HDCP enabled 1080p signal from a non-HDCP enabled video card or player ?? Will the Dell 2407 display the full 1080p image? Most probably yes.
