I have just ordered a 2007FPW from Dell as they are a nice price at this time. I can't wait for it to turn up.

I am also very jealous of your setup Mudcrutch, hmm do I order another one now to make two of them.

WOW, looking awesome, but isn't the 42" westy a little high to view, no neck pain?

BenQ Shows First HD HDMI Monitors
By Gordon Kelly at TrustedReviews
Published 25th July 2006

This High Definition malarkey is all well and good but how many realise that owning a monitor with a 1920 x 1080 screen resolution is not the only requirement for HD viewing? An HDMI interface comes in very handy too and BenQ has just become the World’s first manufacturer to offer LCDs with one.

Introduced to us at the funky Sway Restaurant in Holborn on Friday afternoon, the FP241W and FP241WZ should be a multimedia aficionado’s paradise. They both sport massive 24in screens with 1920 x 1200 native resolutions to support 1080p playback, have brightness’s of 500cd/m2 and contrast ratios of 1000:1 but most importantly HDMI.

For those (still) not in the know, HDMI is the digital audio/video interface which will be used to carry full uncompressed High Definition content. It is backwards compatible with DVI-D and should be fundamental to any HD fanatic’s upgrade path (for a full run down check out Riyad’s extensive guide here). Naturally the two models also have S-Video, Composite and Component connections. They weigh an identical 10.6Kg, measure 567 x 248 x 474.2mm, incorporate lightening quick 6ms response times too and wide 178 degrees viewing angles.

So what is this ‘Z’ all about? Well it refers to an advancement in BenQ’s popular AMA (Advanced Motion Accelerator) technology which is designed to eliminate jittery motion lines and image ghosting. What happens is quite simple: alternative black frames are spliced between standard frames. Yes it sounds disastrous but in actual fact mimics the effect of a CRT and – I can confirm – the human eye responds far more naturally to it than traditional LCDs. The downside is it should be switched off for text work since it dims the screen.

A 100 euro premium has been slapped on the FP241WZ - making the two models 900 and 800 euros respectively - and it will be well worth the extra cash when both drop in August.
Looks great but I'm not sure why they say "First HD HDMI Monitor"

Actually the mount I used lets me pivot the screen up, down, left and right. I can also pull the screen out up to 19 inches. Check out this LINK for more details on the wall mount.

Because it's the first monitor with HDMI?

As I understand it though, the only difference between HDMI and regular DVI with HDCP is that it sends sound through the same cable, so is it really a big deal? Probably not.

I know some Westy 1080p monitors have HDMI connectors, they are on the market already for few months and probably there are others. x2

I would not count the the Dell 2407 with (DVI with HDCP), since it doesn't work to well on that model yet, hope they do another revision.

Yeah, TVs have had HDMI for a while now, but this (presumably) is the first display classified as a monitor that has it. Basically it's just marketing speak if you ask me.

That's what I did. It's also handy to have around for those few games you run into that can't be hacked properly to run widescreen (Undying is the only one I've found so far - it will run widescreen resolution with a proper fov, but it screws up the journal screen so you can't read the top line).
