Default Westinghouse 22" Widescreen

I really want this monitor because of all of its inputs and such. My current LCD (Sceptre 20.1" widescreen). The westinghouse has a lower contrast ratio (700:1 instead of 800:1) and a little bit of a lower viewing angle...

The reason I want it is because I get a sweet employee discount on it (Under 400 for the monitor). Do you think it would be worth the upgrade from the Sceptre?

I use canned air to blow any loose dust off the surface. I then take a 100% cotton cloth and use distilled water to wipe off the screen.

I actually use the cleaning solution and lint free cloth that I got with my eye glasses. Seems to work fine.

I gave in and bought a big container of the LCD wipes at Best Buy. There were 70 of them in there (which will last me a very, very long time) and as I recall they weren't all that expensive either (<$10), plenty worth it for the peace of mind I get knowing that I won't harm my expensive monitors). I used to use eyeglass cleaning material too though, so if you've got some of that around you might as well use it.

There's more than one way to do it but distilled water and a cheap 100% cotton t-shirt is the easiest (and practically free) way.

Just don't use anything abrasive or that will leave a residue. That is the main thing. Chemicals are almost always a bad idea.

So no comments on the 22" Westinghouse? I went to Best Buy and saw the display. It is noticably bigger than my 20.1" and I really really like the inputs on it.

i haven't tried that model personally, but when i bought my gateway 21 inch WS (samsung panel) i talked to manager at Best Buy, and he allowed me to test the monitor, from inputs, to ghosting, dead pixels etc..

I use the formula sold at the local EB. Its pretty light with the chemicals and is designed to clean LCD screens. Its reasonably priced, but comes in a small bottle so I use it sparingly. It really works well. However once its all gone, I think I'll just use distilled water.

I had a mate who had something spilled on his monitor (LCD) whilst it was being repaired and after trying for ages to remove it without resorting to harsh window cleaner, he actually spat on a cloth and wiped the screen. It came off straight away, then he cleaned the whole screen and it came up perfect.

God knows what was on that monitor, but I'm so glad he didn't just lick the screen.

I picked two of them up this week. They're very nice. A little bit of backlight bleed if you crank up both the brightness and contrast to max, but fine when tweaked to some rational settings.
