Meh. I have Vizio 26" 720p. If the native resolution is 1366x768, then that's the max. I can't go any more than that, can I? If so, is there even any way?

I'm thinking of selling it off to someone else now and get my money back. :\ I haven't felt right since I got it.

Just placed an order for the Samsung 245BW but now I am torn. I can still cancel my order so that is not a big deal. I just read some posts about the 28" monitors and when I looked them up I saw the Viewsonic 28" (open box) for $550 shipped. The 245 is $479 shipped after 20 rebate. I will be going from a 20" LCD to this. Played with a 24" samsung when I was building a rig for a friend and really liked it. Res is the same and I have the desk space. Does the larger screen with the same number of pixels show in any way? Does it look fuzzier or grainier? If I have to spend $700 for the retail box then that would be a deal breaker. I have a DVI-HDMI cable at the house along with power cable so the lack of accessories is not an issue.

What's a guy with $550 and loves gaming suppose to do?

If you want to connect other devices like consoles, High Definition players, TV STB.... the Samsung is the way to go.
I prefer the Samsung. But that's because I do nearly all of my work/office and internet tasks on my Mac.
Thanks for your valuable feedback. You see, I can only afford to purchase one of them.

The Dell 30" 2560x1600 costs 1200$-1300$.
To be able to play games released in 2008 and 2009 at its 2560x1600 resolution (and with effects like AA, AF, shadows, HDR, ...), the 30" requires 2x Geforce9 in SLI (2x 600$).
And that in turn requires at least a 800W Power Supply (200$). My current Thermaltake Purepower 680W PSU won't cut it, since it's the old faulty revision.
So in the end, the real price of a Dell 30" 2560x1600 is 1300$ + 600$ + 600$ + 200$ = 2700$. Oouch...

Now, considering the 46" 1920x1080 LCD TV. It costs 2200$ alone, but it doesn't require 2x Geforce9 in SLI + new PSU.
I can just keep my current GPU and PSU for quite some more time.

Plus, while spending 2700$ on a 30" 2560x1600 LCD monitor + 2x Geforce9 in SLI + a new PSU will provide exceptional personal entertainment, the 46" 1920x1080, for 500$ less (which I can use to purchase a PS3 for Blu-Ray, console games, etc), has far more multi-viewers entertainment abilities (family, friends, neighbours, etc, ...)
A much more social-friendly item indeed.

So much for Crysis, CoD4, UT2007 running at 60fps @ 2560x1600, but I'll still enjoy those games (and Hi-Def movies ) at 1920x1080 46".
Not bad at all.

Btw, When you have time, please post some more pics like these

showing your screens (specially the 46") playing some Hi-Def 1920x1080 video footage.

It's always amazing to look at.

Cheers

As for the photos, I don't have any photos showing some HD or movie scenes. I'll try to take a few pics from Planet Earth but it's very hard to take good photos with the glossy finish of the Samsung
Nice. Can't wait.

Just received my 2707wfp to replace my Apple Cinema Display!

Before:

Monster unboxed!

And After:

Cable management is work in progress!

So far the screen has been incredible! The size takes some getting used to and I need to sit slightly further back but everything looks jaw dropping. Not one dead pixel and X360 looks great over component. Happy with my purchase

A-m-a-z-i-n-g.
I already decided: Samsung 1920x1080 LCD TV.
I'm also a photography noob.
You could turn off the cam's flash, and let in the maximum amount of natural sunlight in your room (around mid-day), and position the cam in such a side-angle where the sunlight reflection in the Samsung's gloss coating doesn't show up in the photo.
But it's ok, no need for more photos, if it's too much job.
Thanks.

Actually Swalter, ambient lighting and/or direct lighting (I.E. YOUR FLASH) is not important when snapping LCD screens. They are backlit, and will expose nicely without help. But for even better results, turn off your room's lighting and cover the windows (or do it at night), slow the shutter a to about 1/5sec, set your ISO to 100 and USE A TRIPOD! Flip back a couple pages and you'll see some of my results (especially the ones with HDTV feeds). I'm not an expert either, and I was using my friends camera that I was not too familiar with, but those are some basic guideline you should follow.

Here are some pics I took of my Dell 24" LCD 2407WFP, a year ago.
Some with the room lit by afternoon sunlight, some with the room in darkness.
If I recall correctly, I turned off the cam's flash.

The downside to the sutter being open longer, is you have to hold the camera very still to capture a sharp image. The easiest way to do this is by using a tripod.

Hey, check out the new F9 LED series from Samsung that are on sale in Greece. But the price is ridiculous 52" 4500 Euro, 70" 38000 Euros. LOL!
