While I can't see myself setting it at 90 degrees every time I surf the net, it's amazing how much better it is to surf the forms at that angle.

My XHD3000! Words cant describe how big it looks in person. Xbox 360, PS3, Wii all work marvelously!

Default basic question about large monitors

hello everyone,
I have the opportunity to trade my 6 month old Dell 3007WFP (notice it's not the newer HC version) for an Apple Cinema 30. Is the trade worth it? Which is a better monitor?

Thanks!

keep the dell, the apple displays use really old panels. (slow response times)

thanks! I thought both used the same LG panels, and I thought (perhaps wrongly) that the Apple, been the latest model, would have an edge over the older 3007.

I've just upgraded my PC's LCD monitor from a Dell 2407WFP-HC 24" 1920x1200 to a Samsung LE-F86 40" 1920x1080.
I'm viewing it from 2' (60cm) at most, and eye movement is enough to cover the entire display area (no neck/head movement neccessary).
With the 1920x1080 resolution, a 40" display is perfect as a regular PC monitor.

Photos from some 1920x1080 videos, with low ambient light:

- HDTV-Caps/Bluray movies

- Philips HDTV Demo

- Samsung HDTV Demo

For gaming, it's far better to see it in motion, so I uploaded two short HD videos (MPEG2 1920x1080i 25.00fps 26Mbps, from a JVC Everio GZ-HD7 Camcorder) of PS3's Gran Turismo 5 Prologue running on the TV, with a brighter ambient light:
Samsung F86 40 inch (Ford GT LM Spec II Test Car, GT5 Prologue), part1

The *ONLY* bad thing about not getting a 24" is that with a smaller one you don't get the "full" quality of HD. They really need an in-between step from 720P to 1080P. Like 1050P, .

~Ibrahim~

You can't really see full HD on small screens, the res is about TEXT size, not anything else.
If you video's or games don't look good at 16x10, they won't look better at 1920x1200.

Big LCD's change everything, once you have one, you'll never go back, and you'll find the money for GPU's.
