Does the backlight bleeding issue was fixed with the later 2005FPW's and 2405W's?
Also, which LCD monitors has 1600x1200 native res.?

The backlight bleeding issue was minimized with the newer model 2005FPW’s but I’m not sure if its been corrected completely. As for the 2405FPW’s, check with Rip on those, not sure if they’re even affected.

The 2001FP has a native rez of 16*12 and suffers from the “screendoor” effect and minor backlight issues.

I have a revision A01 2005FPW and the backlight bleed problem is there. It's not as bad as earlier revisions but it's noticeable in a dark room. I don't know if there are newer revisions (A02, etc.) right now or not. Backlight bleed is caused by an assembly problem btw, not a problem with the panel itself.

As far as the 2405FPW goes, mine does have a tiny bit of backlight bleed in the extreme upper left corner. I had a different one the first go-round and it did not have that problem - but it had two dead pixels one of which was in an area I couldn't tolerate. The exchange was better, though I still have a few problem pixels (stuck green on black) but they are in extreme corners of the screen and out of center.

Few panels and few CRTs are perfect. Whatever you do don't expect a perfect display. They are extremely rare.

If you want a 1600x1200 native display I recommend checking into the Viewsonic VP201 series or the Dell 2001FP.

The $200 LCD I'm running right now has absolutely zero dead pixels.

You're either very lucky or you haven't found one that's already there.

I also thought my current display had no dead pixels - until about 3 weeks after getting it I happened to have my face real close to the screen at which point I noticed two stuck green on black in the extreme lower center quadrant of the monitor. If you are more than 12" back from the monitor there is no way in hell you can see them.

But until then it'd all been happy days and all.

My history:
2000FP - 2 stuck red pixels
2001FP - 2 stuck red pixels
2005FPW - 1 stuck green on black
2405FPW(1) - 1 dead pixel, 1 stuck green on black
2405FPW(2) - 3 stuck green on black

I also have a buddy who bought a 2001FP and had two problem pixels as well. Most of the displays I see here @ work, including Viewsonic displays, also have at least one problem pixel. There are exceptions but they are most definitely the exception - not the rule.

Mine has zero dead pixels, and I've looked. It's great.

I think you guys can understand my skepticism when I hear comments regarding how someone's monitor is perfect. Just look at the list of displays I've owned and you can see why. That is not statistical aberration - dead pixels are normal. Having a display without a single one is not.

Well, for Dell monitors maybe. You only have one brand of monitors on your list there. I've owned 2 Samsung LCDs and neither one has had a single dead pixel.

LOL, both 2405FPW's I've had are Samsung displays. And both had at least two problem pixels.

The 2005FPW is an LG panel. The 2000FP was a BenQ/Acer. The 2001FP is also an LG AFAIK.

Nope, dead pixels are the rule not the exception. At least one or two of them anyway.

Can someone link to a page containing the specs of the 2001FP, 2005FPW and 2405W?

My 2405FPW is pretty much perfect! No dead pixels and minimal to no back light bleed. This model is leagues better than the 2005FPW series when it comes to the back light and contrast. I still can't believe I lucked out like I did with this LCD. My girlfriend and I actually find ourselves playing most of our new DVD movies on my PC because the 2405FPW is amazing. As you can see I really do love this LCD.
