ETA probably around April or May of this year.

Around Oct of this year is the monitor I am really looking out for

The 2707fpw. This will be different from all the other ultrasharps because of the panel. It will have an estimated 92% color reproduction. Compare that with ~60-75% for most flatpanel monitors on the market right now. The better ones obviously have better color reproduction.

Estimated response time == 10-12 ms typical. Price, I dunno. I would wager probably retail at $1400 looking at the 3007's price-point.

If this has a Samsung panel, as it the case with most Dell panels (see: http://www.samsung.com/Products/TFTL...1/LTM270M1.htm) then it should be out much sooner since production is stated for Q1/06. Dell gets them as they come out of the oven, so to speak. Where did you get this 92% color gamut thing?
Anyway what do you guys think of this monitor: http://www.nec-display-solutions.co....et-english.pdf I have a similar NEC 1970GX monitor with glossy screen in the office (yes, a gamers lcd in the office )and the contrast is amazing, but the viewing angle is not so good. This one (20WGX2) has a 1600:1 contrast, 470 cd/m2, 6ms g-g, 12ms bl-w, and 178Deg viewing angle. Plus, the glossy screen and costs about 500 Euro. (about 500 USD). In Nec's US site there is another model, the 20WMGX2 with integrated TV tuner.

No but I wouldn't use it for gaming. It is a nice work display though, no doubt. To small for me though. Now that I'm used to such a large screen area no way would I go back to anything less.

I'm sure it doesn't look bad per se. Interpolation doesn't completely trash the image. But still... it will never look optimum in less than native resolution.

I sit about 3' back from mine and it's fine. But I wouldn't suggest much closer than that or you'll end up with a stiff neck from constantly looking side to side, especially with a game like CSS for instance.

Didn't someone mention that the 30" Dell does not scale lower resolutions to full screen cleanly? If the native resolution of the 3007 is 2560x1600 then the amount of interpolation needed to display 1280X800 full screen is massive!!

Yeah I think it would be kinda bad... But I played Halo in 1Kx768 on my 2000FP and believe it or not it didn't look all that ugly. So I dunno.

I'm going to try and throw a few more pictures up tonight of the Westy. This time w/some lighting in the room.

I think what he was trying to say is that some bought the 30" LCD thinking they were buying the ultimate LCD for gaming, probably not realizing how incredibly tough it would be to run games at the native resolution.

Edit: Geez, it only took me a couple of minutes to complete my post and y'all have already gone back and forth a few times. Just ignore my post...

Another issue with the 3007 is that it will not display DOS type resolutions (640X480 and below). If this is true then you might have to have another monitor on standby for any BIOS or DOS related activities.

Are you serious?

If that is the case give me a break. That is unbelievably retarded. You know, getting into the BIOS shouldn't *require* another display. That has to be one of the top 10 worst design decisions I've heard of in the last year.

If you (Riptide) refer to TierMann's old post you'll see what I'm talking about. Since I haven't used a 3007 or know anyone that actually owns a 3007 I can't verify if this problem is indeed true. If you know anyone that owns one ask them about this problem.

He's not alone either after looking around at different forums. No one mentions though why they don't bother with a scaler.

Where I got it from? Internal non-confidential docs and roadmap.

Wrt response times, below 12ms whether you have 11 or 1 ms response time should make no difference, the human eye cannot tell the difference.

Wrt the color gamut, that is the spec that was listed. 92% is the listed spec.

Here are some more pictures of the westy... 1600x1200 so I thumbnail'd them.

Took a couple of Finding Nemo but for some reason they ended up looking all washed out. Oh well. Time for a new camera anyway.
