Well like I said the power supplies in these displays are cheap. And there is some variation out there as you can see. My whine never totally dissipates - but it's never real loud. In fact even if the room is quiet I can't hear it sitting back about 5-6'. Only when sitting @ the PC do I hear it and even then only when I have nothing running (music, movies, games, etc.).

If you got the extended service agreement then maybe it's not a huge issue. Because then if the power supply finally fries on you or gets significantly worse you can have it swapped out locally instead of mailing it in. Mailing a display like this in? HELL NO. I don't want to go there. One person did, and I quoted him back in the thread, and look where it got him. Waste of time there.

I didn't get the extended service agreement but the BB guy said I had 30 days. I may go ahead and get that just for the peace of mind.

I would. No question. On a $1599 device with only a year warranty from the manufacturer? Better jump on that while you can.

Word of caution WRT Best Buy service plans. They've been known to royally screw anyone in the pooper who attempt to have their stuff serviced. Try to see if you can buy their replacement plan (which isn't too bad from what I've gathered) as oppsoed to their service plan.

Wonder why they never posed the "replacement plan" as an option. I got the service plan I think.

Could it be Satan?

More like dimbulb idiot salespeople. Which ofcourse never happens at BB.

Hopefully I'll never have to use mine. Because I don't relish the thought of it. But the manufacturer warranty is atrocious on these items IMO.

Or check directly with the manufacturer. I bought a 32" Sony flat screen HD-ready TV (standard tube-type) a couple of years ago. BB wanted to sell me an extended warranty for $3-400 or something. I went onto Sony's site and they offer extended warranties directly. And, not only was it cheaper, but it provided better coverage (in-home, etc.).

Something to check into.

Can you take a pic of the inputs or list them (or maybe it's just easier to provide a link to the TV). I'm basically wondering if the TV or the Cox box provide connections so you can receive OTA HD content plus HD content through Cox at the same time? That is, can you have an antenna and the Cox set-top box connected at the same time or is it one or the other?
You can have them connected at the same time, its just a matter of changing the input source on the TV's input menu

As far as the Pops, he got some new toys of his own

Cool, thanks for the info, it sounds like an ideal solution.

I don't know about you guys but I am somewhat disappointed in widescreen.

It isn't the technology. It isn't the picture.

It's the publishers. They are dragging their feet in supporting this and it upsets me. When games like FarCry, which are years old, support it perfectly it just irritates the hell out of me that to THIS VERY DAY we have new games coming out that don't. Battlefield 2 and X3 are great examples.

Very disappointing.
