Since a few posters have been enjoying their 37" 1080P Westinghouse LCDs I thought it would interesting to point out that Westinghouse has a new 42" 1080P LCD on the market. AVS forums has a few threads on this great LCD. Here is a link to Crutchfields web site so that you guys can get a good look at it.

Can you mary a monitor?

I'm now a very pleased owner of the new Samsung 244T.

The image quality (especially in windows and games) is just freakin amazing! It has a cristal sharp image depth. Running games like Bf2 and Cod2 in 1920*1200 you can really se where an object starts and ends and the textures seem almost to be alive. The best thing is the dark colors. The black is so sweet...

I've had good and fast 17" and 19" Eizos and viewsonics. But the 244T feels just as fast or faster.

It's is a really good buy, I tell ya. It has all features that one can think of. Hdcp, Pip etc...

Ouch sticker stock on the 42" westy. So not a good value compared to the 37". Wow.

Hey Riptide... remember that the price of the 37" Westy was about $2400 when it first came out. Give it time... The 42" will go down in price fairly soon. Costco has it for $2400 already!!

Oh no doubt. Prices on everything come down. Well most things anyway.

But right now I wouldn't touch it. Hell no.

So who's going to be the first to pick one of these up?

Huge LG LCD!!!

Quote:
LG Phillips LCD says it has developed the world’s largest liquid crystal display panel measuring 100 inches across.

The massive wide-screen panel has a screen ratio of 16:9 and measures 2.2 m by 1.2 m. The largest currently available LCD panel of 82 inches was developed by Samsung Electronics in March last year but has yet to become available in the shops.

Using the company’s own copper-based interconnect technology, the panel offers high-definition 6.22 megapixel picture quality without distorting video signals and supports a response speed below 5 ms with 1.07 million colors. It also boasts a maximum 3,000:1 contrast ratio, 92 percent color reproduction and a 180-degree viewing angle, LG Philips says.
5ms?!? That's pretty sweet. Too bad it doesn't have a higher resolution than 1080x1920...Although that's still not too bad...I want one!

So does anyone know when the Dell 2407 is going to be released? I'm wanting to get a new monitor and I'm thinking it's going to be the one.

Well I'm arranging for an exchange on my Westy.

I love how there are zero dead pixels. Which is what made this decision difficult.

But lately I've noticed a problem. If I grab a white window on the desktop and pull it over to the right - the right 1/3 of the display is noticeably brighter. It's obvious with a white window, much less obvious with other backgrounds. The window clearly becomes brighter on the far right of the screen.

Per Westinghouse this isn't normal - nor do I recall noticing that when I first had the display.

I guess if the replacement does it - then they all probably do to one degree or another. Hopefully I won't get burned by this.

Likely sometime in q2.

Samples already exist and they have essentially the same panel as the 2405 (which isn't exactly a bad thing).

HDCP support will be standard.

Sorry to hear that. Is the problem you are experiencing with the Westy common?

Unfortunately I found one other person on avsforums that has the same issue. On the left side of his display. IME that means it's probably a fairly common issue and it's likely the replacement is going to have it also. Guess I'll find out later this week. I was also considering seeing if I could get them to let me pay the difference and go for the 42" model that just came out but they would have to order it and I'm not sure they would do it. Plus there is the issue of pixel density there. 42" might be a bit much even for me.
