Well I found it just out of the blue. Happened to notice that after moving a white window from left to right that on the far right it seemed brighter. Tested more to confirm it, including having my wife look at it. Then I posted on avsforum and found someone else who says he has the issue.

Guess I'll be playing westy roulette on the exchange. If the replacement has the same issue I'll just have to live with it I suppose.

Sorry to do this (really) but I need to advertise. I've got my brand new Dell 2005FPW for sale in the ForSale/ForTrade forum! I've got one offer for $400 shipped, but I didn't know if anyone wanted to get it for $425 shipped. All payments will be made via Paypal (I am vertified). Just wanted to throw it out there . . .

I'm going to give that guy the ok later tonight so if you want it, PM me quick!

The image quality (especially in windows and games) is just freakin amazing! It has a cristal sharp image depth. I've had good and fast 17" and 19" Eizos and viewsonics. But the 244T feels just as fast or faster.

It's is a really good buy, I tell ya. It has all features that one can think of. Hdcp, Pip etc...

pictures, pictures, GIVE ME SOME PICTURES !!!! ))

Gosh, so many widescreen LCD to choose. Can't decide. >< I'm more of looking into ones that has 1920x1080 resolution... Samsung or Dell but Dell's coming out with upgraded 2405 with HDCP... bah.

Anyone want to give me some suggestions? Wait or get one now? Samsung looks really nice... but kinda expensive. =X

Well that's suckage. Sounds like doing this swap with best buy is a waste of time then. Maybe I should just tell them to fuggedaboudit.

Bah. Sorry for bringing that to your attention dude. lol

Heh, don't worry about it. I think it's fine for the price I paid for it. By playing with the settings, I've almost completely eliminated the one thing that really bugged me, the buzzing. The brightness issue I didn't even notice until you mentioned it. I guess I'll have to see how it goes but so far, even though I know it's there, it's not that noticeable and doesn't bother me. I'm surprised some of the guys there are saying it's so unacceptable as a PC monitor. If some don't notice it until being told about, it doesn't seem like it's a show-stopping type flaw. Although, since I don't sit directly in front of it and don't use it full-time maybe that makes it less noticeable to me. I don't know.

Keep in mind I didn't find out about it until I noticed it first hand.

It definitely counts as a defect though.

Okay, I decided to purchase Samsung 244T. Oh man, I'm looking forward to have it... 1920x1200 is too sweet to resist...

The sad fact is that once you notice a small defect like that you won't be able to live with it. It'll drive you INSANE! If you decide to put the Westy on the market you know who is contact!

I already arranged for an exchange with BB. The replacement cost me a ton more so it better be worth it. I don't care if it has a dead pixel or even two as long as they aren't front and center - but the brightness needs to be uniform or it will drive me crazy. Supposedly the display I'm getting doesn't have these problems but I'm holding back final judgement until I use it for a couple months. I swear my 37w1 didn't have that uniformity problem for the first couple weeks or so.
