That sucks. I wonder why they only made it hdcp compliant in the US and not Europe. Doesnt seem to make any sense to me

making a custom res of 1024x640 and then having your card or lcd scale to that can give you extra boost of performance, for those of us that have older cards. Its the same exact ration of 1680x1050.. Honestly, it doesn't look that bad either, at least when my gateway lcd scales it.. I'm running Oblivion, d3, and q4 under that resolution, to keep the widescreen aspect.

Yes, all new panels made after January do not have this problem. Also, a member on [H] found a way to fix it for all 2005FPW owners, it involved taking the panel apart and taping the sides of the LCD under the bezel.

Yeah I saw that guy's post. Not sure how comfortable I'd feel about pulling the panel apart though.

Well I have a Westy 37W3 to play with this evening. So far it looks like I'll be keeping my 42W2.

The picture quality is fine. Pretty comparable to the 42W2. I haven't had a chance to fully tune it but so far it doesn't disappoint. Also with the pixel pitch being a bit finer text is a tad nicer on this one.

I've found one problem pixel so far but it seems to have snapped on in the last few minutes or so. Maybe nothing to worry about. The one thing that irritates me, however, is that I get a buzzing noise out of this thing. Coming from the back of the monitor on the left side. It's pretty minor but picky people like me... well you know. I know it's the set because if I turn it off it immediately goes away. Turn it back on and there it is again.

So I dunno. I have until this weekend to make a final decision but right now I'm leaning towards keeping the 42W2. It may not be perfect but neither is this one and the buzzing noise is a dealbreaker for me. When I'm sitting here typing this with no other ambient noise I can still sorta hear it.

Crap it's always something I swear.

Hey Riptide... what are the weak points on the 42W2?

Well it's a bit more than I want to pay for an extra 5". The remote isn't as good as the 37W3 and I like the 37W3's OSD better. The pixel pitch is a bit tighter/smoother.

But that's pretty much it. And at this point I'm not doing another exchange. Westinghouse QC isn't real thrilling.

37W1 - lack of white uniformity on right 1/3 of the screen, buzzing noise
42W2 - horrible vertical band in the middle
42W2 #2 - almost perfect, whites still not 100% uniform (though close)
37W3 - buzzing noise, has a dead pixel

The noise this 37W3 makes is sort of like when you have used a bunch of canned air and then let the can sit there. In any case as of this morning after leaving it on all night it is still doing it so that is not likely to go away. Coupled with the one dead pixel - looks like I'll be keeping my second 42W2.

Hmm, not sure if i should be posting this here, or elsewhere, but perhaps you guys might be able to help me.

I've just got my new 2007WFP today, and all is good, except, i cannot for the life of me get DVI working. The analogue signal and cable work fine, however when i try to switch to DVI, all i get is a black screen, then a few seconds later the monitor goes into power save mode.

I've re-installed my nvidia drivers (6800GT btw), and fiddled around with the monitor settings and installed the dell drivers and everything, but cannot seem to get it working.

Ontop of that DVI seems to also not want to work when booting up, in bios, and whatnot.

Perhaps it's a driver issue maybe, considering i am running beta drivers..

Any sort of help would be greatly appreciated, ta.
