That is effin annoying as hell. I swear to all that's holy, if I didn't have bad luck then I wouldn't have any luck at all. I can't believe how I always manage to get crapped on.
That is screwed up man, might wanna give Dell a call about that. Telling you're waiting on the monitor for a "customer", they'll get you taken care of

Well I must be the luckiest man alive...

I just got my second 2005 two days ago and just unpacked it.

Another perfect one, albeit minimal backlighting bleed in the top right hand corner....

But let me say this, I have NEVER noticed any of the backlight problems before reading these message boards and then going out of my way to discover them.

After reading all about these issues, I turn out all the lights and throw on a dead pixel tester app running on the black screen and then I notice some bleed on all my flat panels, everything from a Dell 2001, to a Viewsonic, to my Thinkpad A20p, to my two other laptops....

So I truly don't think it's that big of an issue.... Unless of course you can notice the problem with the lights on.

Anyways, just wanted to report, that my wife was so happy with the quality of my first one, she told me to order a second one for the bedroom so she can watch movies in bed on the thing.

I'm probably just going to hook up a DVD PLayer to it and the Bose Wave radio (I might put a cheap HTPC in there for TV Tuning) and just be done with it.

But this is the second one in as many weeks that have 0 dead pixels.

Just thought I would drop a message in the forum touting that there are people out here getting great monitors!

I'm not even gonna bother. They'll just tell me they have no monitors to send - they're on backorder sir. I can hear it already. It won't matter that Burpy got his ahead of me even though he ordered two days later. "We're sorry sir". What's done is done, and they have no more stock unless I want a refurb or someone else's return (screw that).

I just got screwed over this time, it happens. I'm still a little angry about it but that won't get me anywhere - I might as well just deal with it. That said, I don't have much patience now. If I get a bad one, and the replacement is one I'm unhappy with as well, then I will do a refund immediately.

And DaShadow, you probably aren't the luckiest man alive lol but you are luckier than me (which isn't real tough lemme tell you). I think I actually mentioned further back in the thread what you are stating: a little backlight bleed is normal. Some displays are worse than others. My 2001FP is the best LCD I have ever seen for backlight leakage - it's practically none existent. I did luck out with this unit and got a real nice one in that regard, though there are two dead pixels.

Question Re: Dell 2005FP (20.1" / 16:10) LCD for $559 Today only!!!

Well, looks like I might get my monitor tomorrow. Which drivers should I use? I'm currently using NVidia 65.73. Does the 65.73 support widescreen?
These drivers are the best drivers for my 6800NU & works flawless with all my games.

So, which driver are you NVidia users using with this monitor?

Doesn't matter, either driver will work. Just switch to a lower rez, reboot and winxp will detect the new LCD and load the new monitor driver from within its database. Didn't need to use the cd that came w/ it.

Please be sure to post feedback!

I run the 67.03's and the monitor driver off Windows Update. But like |JuiceZ| said any driver will work fine with it.

Well I find out on the 14th if Dell can ship me one (2005FPW) or not. And ofcourse, I'll be out of town for some of the next week so even if they do I'll have to wait even longer before I can test it out.

I was put on backorder last week. I put my order in on the 3rd and got an e-mail @ the end of the week. They don't expect to be able to ship me one until the 14th @ the earliest.
