Question Weird resolution problem

what would cause my root account to boot to a different resolution then any other acct i have set up? my root acct boots into 1280x720 every time but only in KDE if i boot to gnome it boots to 1280x1024 and if i boot into any other acct that i have set up it goes to 1280x1024. what would be causing this and how do i fix it? i have an nVidia 6800 GT 256MB using the 1.0-8178 driver and i have tried older drivers with the same effect.

here is my xorg.con file if that helps any:

Default Re: Weird resolution problem

while trying to find a way to fix the problem i did a search for all files containing '1280x720" and these are the results that were returned:

GUI2K4.u
AGP_Interface.u
X /usr/X11R6/bin
Xorg
sis_drv.o
X.rpmsave
X /etc/X11
sisusbvga.ko
xorg.0.log
xorg.1.log.old
xorg.20.log
xorg.0.log.old
anaconda.xlog
xorg.20.log.old
xorg.1.log

would any of these files cause the issue that i described?
