16290 - with modest overclocks. I seem to be having issues with drivers causing considerably varying results (depending on the mix and time of day and wind direction )

This is the result with an X1900XTX and highest catalyst overclock settings using an E6600 @ 3.6ghz...

I Replaced the X1900 XTX with an XFX 8800GTX (STOCK) and with the same setup I scored 11250 Points....

Does it look alright?

And finally, 12,000 with GPU 630/488 CPU 3.8ghz

Also, Is it normal that I hear a small beep type of sound when turning the PC off?
It's only happening with the new card now...

Yep, since this bench gives you points for CPU power, the quads definitely come ahead.

I got about 1000 points more in the tests just beacuse of the CPU score.

So far, I got 18,257 with the CPU at 3.6 GHz and the cards at 650/990.

As for HD gaming modes, the system definitely scales well. These are default clock runs.

1920x1200 with CPU at 3.2

And, just to show the power these cards really can deliver, here is 2560x1600 with CPU at 2.9.

Bigger is better, right?

But, it is all a hobby. I have been holding out for the quad, G80 and a good SLI board. And, they all arrived at once which makes the bank account drain rather quickly. Have to admit though, this is the first system that actually runs things "decently" at HD resolutions. 7950GX2, no, quad SLI, no, 7900 GTX SLI, nope. Now we hve to see what DX10 games come around and cripple even this system (Crysis?).

Now, I have to wait for Crucial to send me new RAM. The current DDR2-1000 was bad. I was having stability issues and it looks like the RAM was the culprit. Using the DDR2-800 set, right now. Slower but at least its stable.

Crysis wont even break that. It should be quad core optimized...
