Default Re: 3DMark06 Benchmark Results

If your system doesn't do 1200x1024x32bpp, which is the default setting for 3DMark6, then it must be defaulting to a resolution that the free version doesn't normally run at.

That's the only thing I can think of which would cause that msg if you just downloaded the program and ran it.

Your score looks bang on though. I see 4 scores on ORB using the 7300 SE.

The scores are:
706 - Intel Core 2 Quad at 4329 MHz
647 - Intel Core 2 Quad at 3600 MHz
639 - Intel Core 2 Duo at 2661 MHz
358 - AMD Athlon 64 at 1809 MHz "Single Core"

Your machine is -not- for any modern "games from the last couple of years" 3d gaming.

This is from the athlon 64 system:

Detailed Test Results

Graphics Tests
1 - Return to Proxycon 0.681 FPS
2 - Firefly Forest 1.226 FPS

CPU Tests
CPU1 - Red Valley 0.21 FPS
CPU2 - Red Valley 0.339 FPS

HDR Tests
1 - Canyon Flight (SM 3.0) 1.083 FPS
2 - Deep Freeze (SM 3.0) 1.657 FPS

===========================

This is from the fastest Core 2 quad sys:

Detailed Test Results

Graphics Tests
1 - Return to Proxycon 1.452 FPS
2 - Firefly Forest 2.612 FPS

CPU Tests
CPU1 - Red Valley 1.906 FPS
CPU2 - Red Valley 2.685 FPS

HDR Tests
1 - Canyon Flight (SM 3.0) 1.937 FPS
2 - Deep Freeze (SM 3.0) 2.866 FPS

It's amazing that the CPU scores are higher than the 3d tests with the quad sys.

not long it doesn't slow down due to frame rates. The test takes the same amount of time regardless the frames just don't get rendered

I have run the test on slow PC's and it does take forever. Each frame is rendered and timed. That's how it works. So, 8 minutes on a good PC and about 30 minutes on a slow one.

The 7300 has only two pipelines. Not enough for any demanding games.

Excuse a stupid question, what is AF and AA filtering? Where do I find the option to turn them off? Could see nothing like that in the nvidia control panel. Changed the resolution to

-Graphics driver is up to date and installed

-No, it's not a Dell system and I was aware I was cheaping out a bit on the graphics card. With limited funds made a decision to save on the (easily upgradable) graphics card rather than motherboard/CPU.

Even with the cheap GPU my score seems REALLY low

AA/AF are quality-enhancers. The first removes jaggies and the second increases texture distance. I think. But that is a freaking low score, no joke. The quad-core itself gets about 1-2K.

Anything running in the background?

OK, go to Control Panel and then to nVidia Control panel. On the left hand side, go to Change 3D Settings. And set everything to application-controlled.

I might be off a word or two (not at right computer), but I think those are the steps.

"Changed your resolution to???"

I still say that your score is bang on with no GPU/CPU overclocking.

These systems are -very- overclocked:
706 - Intel Core 2 Quad at 4329 MHz "You're at 2400MHz you said."
647 - Intel Core 2 Quad at 3600 MHz

What games do you play and what FPS do you get in them?
AF=Anisotropic Filtering. It makes distant textures look sharper.
AA=Anti Aliasing. "To fix lines in the game graphics so that they don't look jagged with the stair step effect". The higher resolution you run, the less you need it.

Both of those options aren't really options for you unless you're running games from 2003 or earlier "for the most part".

What are the rest of your system specs? Memory, motherboard chipset etc...
