e2180 @ 3.5
8800gt @ 753 1844 1001 13365 http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=7570676 Does it take the pro version in order for true cpu speed to be reported correctly by 3dmark? I just got 3.8 stable and am not willing to muck things up by using a different bios just so it can get things right(it's the only thing I can think of other than it being xp's fault). It always reports cpu speed by using the 2180's default multi of 10x. For example, 9 x 400 or 8 x 440 are reported as 4000 or 4400. I've seen other Allendale and Conroe based sytems reported correctly using the same mobo/os/vc. Can anyone shed some light on this? |

Well the Q6600 g0 (at least mine) will run 3.2Ghz @ a VCore of only 1.41250V. I've tried lower, but it isnt stable while running my stability testing apps (Prime95, OCCT, 3DMark06, & Super-Pi. If it fails ANY of them, I dont use that CPU setting). Anyway, this is more then low enough to keep temps in check. At that voltage, I get an average core temp of ~40*C (idle) & 54*C (load). As you probably know, its the voltage and not the actual clock speed which determines how hot your CPU is going to get (well, the vast majority of it anyway).
Keep in mind that I live in San Diego, CA and that its been in the high 80s/low 90s (*F) recently... and I don't have AC for the moment, since the compressor died a few weeks ago... UGG! With your CPU @ 3.2Ghz you should see quite a jump in performance. edit: BTW; what CPU cooler are you using in the Q6600/280GTX rig?
