More Than one Matching Device section for instances found: nvidia

I just reinstall fc4 on my system for security reasons. I saved my xorg.conf file and after reinstalling everything including Nvidia 1.0-8178, plugged it back in. I run a dual head config that was working brilliantly in conjunction with my PNY 6600 GT. Now I get More Than one Matching Device section for instances found: nvidia (where nvidia is the Screen Identifier.) When I try to run startx, i can see the nvidia splash and about a second of Gnome peeking through and then kablewy..
This config worked fabulously under a previous fc4 kernel and an earlier nvidia driver. However, when I tried to use the previous nvidia driver with the new fc4 install, it pulled the same trick.. I'm assuming I have a config issue that wasn't an issue with previous versions of software. Can anyone see it?

Your xorg.conf has a few errors.

First, the correct syntax for specifying the BusID is as follows:
BusID "PCI:3:0:0"

Second, you need one device section for each independent X screen. Your X configuration has one device section, with two X screens.

Thank you for pointing out those errors. However, now that I've corrected the situation, the behavour of X is the same, it starts up and then crashes immediately thereafter. Now, there is only one warning, but it doesn't post to the command line, I find it only in the log.

Open APM failed (/dev/apm_bios) (No such file or directory)

I'm wondering why I'm having so many problems when this machine was working just fine yesterday. I read up on the APM failure error and from what I read there's nothing all that threatening about it. What can I check to determine if this is truly the issue?

I doubt that the APM failure is causing your current problem. Please generate and post an nvidia-bug-report.log.

I also tried reverting to the 7676 driver which I know for sure used to work, but to no avail. Here's the bug report --------- grr, bug report is 108k... 8k more than the limit.. breaking into two files

The bug report you attached doesn't seem to include X crashing. I see it running at 2560 x 1024. Was it generated immediately after X had crashed?

I have a few questions:
0) Why are you using the NoPowerConnectorCheck and NoBandWidthTest X options? Does this problem go away if you remove them?
1) Why are you using the ConnectedMonitor option?
2) What kind of motherboard and BIOS version are you using?

I understand you are using 2 displays on 1 graphics card.
Your xorg.conf does not seem correct. You are trying to use both TwinView and separate X screens. First you have to decide which method to use then we can help adjust your xorg.conf.

Well, same problem here on Gentoo (Xorg 7.0) with TV-out.

The X server log says: "(WW) NVIDIA: More than one matching Device section found: TV Device", however the Xorg config file seems correct.

Here's the complete xorg config and the X server log.

EDIT: the X server doesn't crash, I get GNOME up and running on screen 0 (CRT), but screen 1 (TV) won't work.

You have 4 Device sections, yet none of them include the BusID parameter, which is required if you want to drive multiple displays without TwinView.

Please generate and post a bug report if you have additional questions.
