Default TwinView, stuck in 1280x1024 at only 16 depth

Hello,
I've recently added a second monitor to my setup and am now using TwinView to have a display going for both.

Everything is working well except my resolution and depth. For some reason, no matter what settings I put in my xorg.conf file, both monitors default to 1280x1024 at only 16bit depth.

I would prefer to use 1280x1024 at 24bit depth, but that doesn't seem to work. I've also tried lowering my resolution to 1024x768 to acheive 24bith depth, but no matter what settings I put into xorg.conf, my setup remains at 1280x1024 at 16bit depth.

I am including my xorg.conf file. Does anyone see anything wrong with this?

Thanks!

According to the X log in your bug report, X is using this xorg.conf (rather than /etc/X11/xorg):
(==) Using config file: "//xorg.conf"

In the //xorg.conf in your bug report, I also see:
DefaultDepth 16

I'm afraid I don't see a problem here, X is doing exactly what you've configured it to do.

Are you reporting thta changing the default depth to 24 is not working?

Thanks,
Lonni

Yep, that was it!

I had no idea that X would default to the base root directory for a xorg.conf file (nor do I know how exactly that file got there to begin with).

Thanks again, that fixed me right up!
