Response Time
Rise Time: 15ms
Fall Time: 10ms

Doesnt that mean a total of 25ms?

Well, in that case the Planar PX171M seems way cooler, even if it is *only* 17". I just checked out their website, its not for sale...yet. But a retail price of $559 for such a wickedly fast LCD seems like a good deal. Should go well in that new "Doomkiller" iron I want around March..

Hmmm, yeah I guess you're right that is 25ms for that Sony, but hell that's still damn good for a 19" monitor.

I haven't owned a computer with a CRT since my Commodore SX-64. CRTs give me a headache, especially when the flyback transformer gets old, and starts to whine at 16K-18KHz or so.

For my six computers and TiVO watching pleasure, I have three standalone Apple 15" LCD displays. Apple 's analog LCDs have VGA plus RCA plus S-video input, so they win feature set wars.
One display is DVI on a Macintosh Radeon 7000, and the other two are analog VGA connected through various switch boxes to six CPUs, a TiVo, a VCR and a DVD player.

My disclaimer: I am not a gamer, so framerate and refresh are not part of my purchase decisions. I bought for 2D image quality, features and historical reliability.

Its somewhat like the 60hz vs. 75hz refresh rate issue. Some people can see the flickering at 60hz and it drives them nuts (me) some people dont notice the difference.

Likewise, some peoples eyes are better attuned to slight variations in picture (ghosting, flickering, framerate) and can see the ghosting.

Its like my friend, who claims there is a noticable difference in "smoothness" between 30fps and 60fps.
i can DEFINITELY tell the difference between 30 fps and 60 fps, its literally the difference between the smoothness of a PSX and a PS2 (most psx games were limited to 30fps and almost all ps2 games run at about 60). Although people say its impossible to see the difference between 60 and 90fps, i can tell, if the refresh is high enough, but its veeeery minute

oh, and about the 60hz vs 75hz issue, 75hz drives me nuts! I cant stand anything lower than 100hz!

Default Dell 2000FP

That Dell monitor is on sale for $900.

http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/p...9&sku=320-4105

Not bad for a 20" LCD, but I will wait for a 19-20" w/ 16ms recharge time.

Actually, that Dell 20" LCD was on sale yesterday for an insane $759 shipped!

DellSB - Dell 2000FP 20.1" 1600x1200 LCD for $759.24 with FREE Shipping!!! TODAY ONLY (Posted by: Apex)
This one goes under the "what the ??? were they drinking? when they did this?" category. They dropped the price of their truly AWESOME 20.1" LCD from $1699 to $1599 to $1399, and now to $999. Plus, now they have 20% off dell branded peripherals, reducing that price to $799.20. They have free shipping. And today`s the last day they have a 5% discount too!

Far more interesting is the new LCD display lineup: as expected the 15" disappeared, leaving the entry-level spot to a nice 17", 1280 x 1024, $ 700 display. Higher up there's a brand-new 20", widescreen, 1680 x 1050 display, for $ 1,300 - not bad, but the best is at the top. The 22" is discontinued, leaving only the 23", which drops to an incredibly low $ 2,000! It sports a 1920 x 1200 resolution, and the huge price-drop it received makes it an excellent deal.
